Replace my ball mouse, please.
« on: Thu, 27 October 2011, 12:20:49 »
I've been using a dell ball mouse daily ('cause it's USB), and I really don't like it. I mean, it works, but It's awful.

The reason is, I can't find a my optical logitech, which is cheap, but worlds better.

Can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive mouse to replace it? I'll only need two clickbuttons, and a scroll wheel. I'd prefer a scroll wheel that I can click (to close tabs, etc.)

I'm using a stack of tektbooks as a mousepad, so laser/optical will probably be fine.

Use to be 'everyday' with 0% gaming.

Thanks in advance!

get yourself an inexpensive kensington mouse-in-a-box mouse. Dirt cheap,5 year extended warranty, works good, it's optical and does what you need.

There's also a 15 dollar version, I have no clue what the difference is and have very little desire to learn, as i assume it's not worth the price increase.

I use several of these mice on a daily basis on my work bench and i've never seen one take a dump, use kensington keyboard-for-lifes too (hope that isn't blasphemy on geekhack) at work, they both work like champs.

For cheap ass periphs i can't reccomend em highly enough.

Cool, thanks!

I especially like the warranty.

I'll probably also upgrade my gaming mouse, but not for a while at least.

Well, I ordered a mouse-in-a-box. I'm really getting sick of this godawful ball-mouse. Maybe I'll start doing tablet input exclusively.

Thanks for the input!

I miss my ball mouse. It was always so satisfying taking it apart and cleaning the dirt off of the rollers inside.

You can have mine for $5.20 (shipping). It's a Dell USB, but I don't think it's worth it.

If you don't want it (good) I'll take the scrollwheel out and mount it to a VCR read head for an epic spinner. (Take THAT griffin powermate!)

Mouse-in-a-box came in. I love the packaging. It's bubblewrap in two sections (one for mouse, the other for the cord) crammed into a box with a tiny warranty card in it.

Still getting used to the higher DPI. I like the scrollwheel. Would buy again.
