Dell Mini 10, Nice keyboard!

Wow.  Just got a dell mini 10, it actually has a very nice keyboard..  Short throw stuff helps me type fast in general, getting 96 WPM on ten fingers typing..

Only thing I wonder about is how long it will hold up without degrading.

Now the trackpad on this notebook sucks donkey balls.

Fanless cooling is hot.  (i.e. very cool... I mean, I like it a lot)

I notice on my room-mate's netbook, the fan only cools the graphics chip. I like the fanless mini10, though.

What's good about the keyborad? I like my Fujitsu keyboard a lot (Dyesub keycaps, and individual domes FTW) but overall, the IBM thinkpad keyboards are good, too.

Does it have chiclet-style keys? Are they easily moveable (to dvorak)? what aspects of the keyfeel do you prefer?

Maybe the upgraded the keyboard in between revisions?

OP: thank you for not making a post like: "why the dell mini 10 keyboard is better than yours".

Hmm, you could do a review with all the details. I'm planning on reviewing the keyboard that's in Fujitsu T4210, T4220, T5010 and T900 (and maybe some earlier ones, as well as maybe the T730/T731) They switched to pad print on the T901. Just pried off the spacebar. It's got a metal stabilizer in it, as well as two blank "keys" (no dome). It's like having a cherry and a costar style stabilizer all in one on a laptop! Nice!

Is it the same as the mini 12 keyboard?  I have the dell mini 12 and it's one of the worst I've ever typed on.

mini 10 keyboard to me is so cramped, i mean it works, i use it as a travel laptop and it's by my bedside if i want to "google" something instead of using my cellphone since sleepmode is like 5s, but i wouldn't say it's a great board, just good enough that you won't cry bloody murder using it.

I have a latitude 2100 netbook and I love the keyboard. Already replaced it once due to wearing the keys down to nothing ;)

Hey sorry about the lack of response - actually i don't know what kind of switch it is yet I havent taken it apart yet lol.  I suspect it is a dome with some tactility (clicky rubber a little like a topre).    Man I've been swamped with crap at home and what not I'll try to post some details when I get a few free moments..

EDIT:  They are scissor switches, small rubber dome under each key (just like all scissor switches).  With this in mind I think it will feel really good until I drop some crums on the keyboard then it will turn crunchy..

They are all the same profile and shape so you could move it to DVORAK

Sure? The main downfall of my laptop's keyboard is the the FGH&J keys are different (F and J are mounted sideways, G and H are offset) The keys are all the same size and profile up top, but in practice they cannot be moved anywhere else.

Reason being: I am looking for a netbook to buy.

The dell mini touchpad sucks cause number one, it ships with "enhance pointer precision" on by default thus allowing mouse acceleration.  Which sucks.  Number two, the mouse buttons are part of the sensing part of the trackpad.  So if I keep one hand on the left mouse button and try to move around with the trackpad, it thinks I'm trying to do some multitouch gesture.  I think I may need to remap left windows key to left mouse button and the menu key to right mouse button.

yes but there is a lot more variation between manufacturer's designs than desktop scissor switch keyboards.
