But still, barring death of an immediate family member, a mob deal gone bad, or an invitation to attend Hogwarts, it's EXTREMELY bad form to keep it for this long without at least a PM.  I will still be pissed if he says he was busy with (non-magical) finals.

His posts on his sale threads said something about working 3 shifts for 36 hours or something. Not sure what could be up this time but seems like he's a busy guy.

i dont think having finals or lots of work is much of an excuse. i just finished my finals, and even when i was studying, there's time for breaks to browse around a bit. same thing with working, you're bound to have breaks. if you have time to eat or take a ****, then you have time to send a simple PM on here. if he couldn't do something so simple, he shouldn't have signed up to get the tester in the first place

You have apparently not been given that much work before.

Although, now that I have looked back at the posts... Apparently, he was suppose to have it sent out more than two weeks ago. That's quite a time span, and I tend to agree that barring some major catastrophe, I can't imagine not being able to send a simple PM within a 2 week span.

Yup, a PM takes 30 seconds.  Work and school are not an excuse, no matter how intense.  The only legit excuse I can imagine at this point is death in the family or similar.

I think I can speak for a few newer members by saying that I really would like this to continue even if one of them is gone. I for one would be willing to "rent" the tester per litster's idea a page or so back.

I would also be more then willing to send $10 or so to the owner of the lost tester if it turns out that it really is gone for good to get this back on its feet. I tried a few days ago to get on the topre keychain list but sadly it is gone. It would be sad if this tester followed in its footsteps. I think testers like this provide a great service to the community, and furthermore it would be a shame if one person killed it for everyone.

Heck at this rate I will have tried all of the switches before it gets to me, but that is beyond the point :)

Im pretty good at soldering, and I have a very nice (and expensive) rework station.  I would build a tester if I knew where and how to source the switches and materials.

I would also be willing to help get a new tester going. I think a rental or deposit system would be a good idea as well if it's not too cumbersome to implement.

yeah, sorry guys. had to spend the last 4 days moving. had to be in by monday, and have been settling in ever since. overall, i wish i could type on all of these different switches instead of having just three of each.

i like clears. i think for my next keyboard i will do ergo clears for the main keys, and tacto blacks for the modifier keys. not sure what i want for the space and escape, but i was thinking greens.

i have decided that i dislike linear switches. i really love blues but they are too loud for the woman. i like my das with browns, but after feeling the clears i cant help but wish i was typing on those instead.

i will spend some more time with the thing and try to get a picture or two up soon.

is the tester going to lister after me?

A variably weighted cherry keyboard sounds interested.  With brown and clear stems and different springs, you can really customize your keyboard to what you really want.  Good idea!

Awesome idea. Sorry to hear one tester is MIA. I'd love to be added to the list. I'm near Detroit, so not far from the Ann Arbor member currently last on the list. Mini-meetup?

I must say that even reading everyone's reviews was very helpful. I'd been assuming that reds weren't a contender, but many people seemed to be positively surprised by them.

Dropped by a BestBuy the other day hoping they'd have a Razor, to at least check out the blues. Looking at BB's site now, I managed to find the only BB near me WITHOUT one of those in stock...

I already have a tester keyboard built that will start making the rounds here in around a month or so after it finishes at Overclockers.com. However due to hashbaz's tester being stolen I will only send it out here to members who are willing to pay a reserve until it gets to the next person.

I have a few friends in PA, and by friends I of course mean ruffians of ill repute.

Should you desire, we might get "Ghetto" on his ass as it were.

On subject, I was wondering if anyone might be in the Austin/Texas area that might be getting the test board. I don't want to ask for it because I'm a ruffian of ill repute with 4 posts to my online alias, but I'd really really like to touch a Cherry MX clear without paying full price for a Deck.

I will probably do that as well I dont know how ever how I will place the switches or what reserve would be ideal. Also though about custom WASD caps to match the switches.

Edit: just checked out you layout I plan to follow it if that is ok

Nice!  Glad to see your board coming together.  I like how browns/blues and reds/blacks are usable at the same time by the two hands.

Someone else mentioned a full tester keyboard somewhere, so I'm wondering if rebuilding my numpad is worthwhile.  What does everyone think?

Yes.  I considered this before sending mine out but figured I could trust the community.  Everyone was totally awesome except for brsp.  litster's numpad made it home safe and sound.  I know BossBorot is planning to require a deposit.
