Looking into my first Mechanical Keyboard -

Hey everyone first of all I'd like to say sorry for not searching around the site more, i have to get going so I'd thought i would post this really quick. I'm currently trying to figure out what keyboard would be best for me, i play alot of Fps games but mmorpg's sometimes aswell. I was looking into the Blackwidow with Blue's, but then found out about the mx black's which i hear are better for fps gaming? I am a bit confused on all of the stuff i've heard from people. Could anyone give me suggestion's into which keyboard/switches would be best for a hardcore fps player, or simply gamer for the most part. The keyboard's i've looked at so far are -

Razer Blackwidow - Mx Blue's
Razer Blackwidow Stealth - Mx Brown
Steelseries 7G - Mx Black

Name any switch.  If you like how it feels you can figure out how to deal with it while playing any sort of game.

Black switches are sometimes considered the best switches for FPS games, while tactile switches like blue or browns better for RTS and similar games. I have only used browns, which work great for the FPS games I play. Like the people before me in this post have mentioned, there really isn't a wrong switch. Any switch can do anything, so that makes deciding upon a switch personal preference. Sure, if you ONLY use your keyboard to play FPS games then black switches may be the best because if the linear action. But many don't like the black switches because many people experience fatigue when typing on them. While on the other hand some prefer to the feel and the weight of the black switches for typing. So like I said, it's all personal preference.

My advice is to try out as many of the switches as possible, and then pick which ever one feels the best to you. But if you find it hard to get to that many switches, most would say brown and blue are the best switches to start with. Many also advise to stay away from switches like clears, reds, and blacks because many seem to either love or hate them.

Truth is you can get used to any sort of keyboard playing any sort of games.

Again, stay away from blacks if you are planning to use your keyboard for other general purposes.

Thanks for all your reply's, greatly appreciate it. Hmm, i think my problem is now that i am learning about these switches i didn't know about before and am now over thinking it lol. I plan to buy multiple keyboards in the future however for awhile i will only have the budget for one. I have been using a rubber dome keyboard for quite some time now, not sure if that plays a part in which i should try first? I read somewhere that blue switches tend to have problem's with "double tapping" is this true? I do happen to do alot of typing, but I'd like to say i mostly game when im at my computer. So i think im currently looking at Brown switches. Is Nkro something i should be looking into aswell? The Razer stealth edition has brown switches but is not PS/2 but USB with "6KRO". I also don't think i'd have any problem with force on keys, just would need to adjust to it a bit. I looked up Red's and they seem to be bashed on for being to light for typing. If i do go for brown should i go for the Razer keyboard see how it is, or maybe head over to WASDKeyboards.com?

Brown switch is the safest bet for the newbie like you, who just migrate from the rubber domes. And the Stealth edition of BW is quite rare.

Alright awesome, and quite rare as in it's not seen on these forums that much? It's a 140$ Keyboard, so for not having PS/2 capability would you say it's worth it? And i type about 80 wpm, so brown's a good choice right lol?

For 140$ I think it is a bit expensive. I would get a Filco brown or WASD brown instead.

For typing, brown is excellent, very light and have a bump to confirm each key. I am typing this on a Filco brown with average speed of 65wpm.

Personally, I wouldn't get caught up in having a gaming branded keyboard either.  If you find a nice one you like, that's fine of course, but there are some nice "non-gaming" choices out there, that support NKRO.  Also, for gaming, Tenkeyless keyboards are usually more comfortable and ergonomic; just something to consider.

If you are going for Razer BW for the sake of limited/low budget, then I no comment. But if you are going to pay 140$ for it, then I will strongly suggest you to stop it.

Razer BW isn't the best built Cherry Mech KB around(in fact it sucks and having lots QC problems+design flaws, not sure after 1 years had it being improved/fixed). You also got yourself limited to 2KRO(stealth is 6KRO?), if you are having a ps/2 port to be use.

With 140$, you can get premium or decent brands like FILCO/LEOPOLD already. At least the built quality is more solid and trustable.

Advice:
BE A REAL MAN, GET A REAL MECHANICAL KEYBOARD.

P/S: If you are a MODDER or going to mod the keyboards, you can go ahead for it(unsolder all switch then resolder them).

Browns are a great starting point and while I highly doubt that key type has a real impact on typing speed, I average 95+WPM.  KRO is only a significant impact when you're under 6KRO.  Also, if you're really looking at ~140 for keyboards take all three of the ones on your list off.  Filco, WASD, Leopold, Rosewill... and most of that decision is going to be aesthetics and budget variations.
