this is like the regular realforce 87u except that it makes less noise. useful for me because i work late night and don't want to distract family. keyboard has variable weight. i got this to see what the fuss was about the topres on this forum. i purchased it 2 months ago and used it very lightly. i prefer the cherry browns.

i'm selling it for %20 off. i paid $340 for the keyboard so i'm selling for $270. i paid $50 for a case i never used and am selling it for $40. shipping will be $15 for the board alone and $10 for the case alone. if you buy the keyboard and the case, the shipping is free. i accept paypal payment and ship out via fedex only to paypal verified addresses in the USA. below is the link for the product. let me know if you have any questions. i will not accept returns.

attached are some photos. i carefully removed the spring under the spacebar but for selling purposes put it back. i accidentally made a few scratches to the spacebar with the keypuller as you can see in the macro shot. otherwise everything else is excellent condition.

'B' looks scratched too. Wire loop key pullers > forceps key pullers.

yeah i made sure to take a close up photo to be upfront and clear. normally i don't use key pullers but i felt that the spacebar of the topre was heavier compared to the rest of the keyboard because it has an extra spring. same deal with the compaq 11800 spacebar.

  • Topre, or not Topre? That is the question.

I don't understand how this could last this long without being snapped up.  I'm having to hold myself back and the only reason I'm not making you an offer right now is that my wife's car just had to have $950 worth of suspension repairs done and our mechanic said that my car was even worse.  I have a white (ish) 87UW and want a black one now.  Tell me you decided to hang on to it so I don't do something foolish.  ;-)  The fact that EK dropped the price of theirs from $345 to $310 didn't help you any, but $250 is still a good price.  GLWS.  I'll check back on it in a little while.  ;-)

OK, everything sold! I had half a dozen people inquire about the keyboard and I was very open about the fact that I didn't think much of the Topre switch. It's not any better in terms of quality than my cherry browns. The Topre is only overpriced. If you like the Topre, that's a matter of taste. The 45g variable Topre was too stiff for me. I saw the force curve and supposedly the brown cherries are heavier or of similar lightness to the Topres. Maybe I have sensitive fingers but I noticed a world of difference. The Topres were very stiff. The brown cherries are light, nimble, tactile. If you're thinking about moving from a brown cherry to a Topre (like me 6 months ago) - don't. If you still want to try the Topre, buy the cheapest used version of the switch you can so that if you don't like it you can resell it at a minimum margin. If you do like it, easily resell it with minimum loss and buy the new one. It'll definitely save you money.

Topre isnt for everybody. There are a good amount of people on this forum that prefer cherry switches over topre after trying them. I think the reason is that they dont feel as mechanical.
