Model M not recognized under Windows 7

Hello Geekhackers,

today my SDL-PS2 cable for my Model M arrived.
I plugged my Model M into the computer and booted, Num-LED activates, Windows asks for my password but my keystrokes aren't recognized.
At first I suspected the Model M or the cable were faulty but after a bit of research I found this gentlemen having the same problem.
So I checked the EFI/BIOS and it seems to work perfectly in there. Keystrokes from all kinds of keys are recognized.
What is the problem here, and how do I make my Model M work under Windows?

My mainboard is an Asus P8P67LE and I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.

Cherry PS/2 keyboards did not have such problems so far.

I just figured it out!
For reference: Go into EFI/BIOS, enter Advanced Mode
Advanced > APM > Power On By PS/2 keyboard
select an option like On/Off Button

works like a charm!

I had this exact same problem when I first got a model M plugged into a Windows 7 box.  Oddly enough, I found that it would always work if I repeatedly pressed numlock while Windows was starting up.  I couldn't tell you why this worked, but it never had trouble recognizing the keyboard when I did that.

EDIT:  False Positive.  Try removing any/all USB keyboards.  Power down.  Then remove power cord or his power supply switch - wait 10 seconds.

Then reboot.  My keyboard won't work when I do that.

It still works for me. However yesterday shortly after my post I realized, that almost every second boot the Model M wasn't recognized but after rebooting it worked perfectly.
Today it works without compromise.

Makes me suspect the NumLock On Boot option for a reason...

You've probably already determined this, but Win7 isn't the issue here.  A model M connected via PS2 is my daily driver at work and has no problems with win7.  I remember ripster and a few others posting issues with some Asus boards.  I know my model M works fine with my old Asus P5B-E under Vista x64 and Win7 x64 but I honestly can't remember if I tried my model M with my newer P8P67 Pro or not.
