TG3 Electronics BL82 ps/2 to USB adapter

Hi guys there is a good deal going around for this keyboard and I'm ready to pull the plug but its PS/2 connection. I heard that TG3 keyboards and Deck that are made with PS/2 stock wont play nice with just any PS/2 to USB adapter. I would of like nothing more than to just mod it to be USB only by switching the cable,but I guess its not that simple,seems that it needs soldiering and adding USB PCB...

So the easiest way for me to do is find a good compatible PS2/ to USB adapter that will be compatible with the TG3 BL82, any body that have this keyboard can help regarding this manner?

Was looking into this the adapter since it has some good reviews even with peeps using old IBM's and a male to male USB cable too.Here are the links,and is someone has better idea please point me into the right dirrection:

My Deck Legend works fine with this adapter.

There's a PS2 to USB adapter wiki that explains differences between various adapters.  I know the Deck Legend maximum current is 500mA, so anything that supports that will work.

Also, I'm not sure about the TG3, but the Deck Legend is fairly easy to switch to USB.  TG3 is probably totally different.

Blue cube adapter will probably work, I'm not sure.  I only paid $2 for the translucent blue one on eBay and it seems to work, but I haven't tested key rollover or anything like that.  I'm just using it for typing at work.

Only the Deck 82 is detachable.  The Legend has PS/2 on one end and USB on the other, so you can flip the cable around, but it requires clipping a resister to go from PS/2 to USB.  Since I use the keyboard with a few different computers, its easier for me to use an adapter.

Where talking about a TG3 BL82, which I think is the same as the deck but with proper caps.

yes it is but this is the TG3,same keyboard as the Deck 82 but its PS/2 and its not detachable,its factory grade. If I only knew how to mod an USB cable to a PS/2 keyboard I wouldnt be asking for opinions on PS/2 to USB adapter because anyways I'm not to big of a fan of the curly PS/2 cable it has on it.

Ugh, yes, not a fan of curly cables myself.  I just brought up the Deck legend because I think it draws a higher current than the Deck 82 (and also therefore TG3 82, I'm assuming).  Anyway, good luck!

Ok I got some replies that the BlueCube adapter http://www.amazon.com/PS2-Keyboard-To-USB-Adapter/dp/B000BSJFJS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327547178&sr=8-1 should be perfectly fine for this keyboard, now another question comes to mind will the adapter recognize the FN key so that I can turn on or off the LED's or make them stronger or dim them...

What ya guys think?

Hate to do this but...BUMP!!!

I found this around searching for info regarding TG3 BL82 and full compatability with adapter,I was worrying in my post above about being able to power up the LED's and this is what I found from a chinesse website:

TG3 BL82: this is the industrial version of Deck 82, PS2 connector, BUT it requires 12v for the backlight to work, without it, it can only function as a normal keyboard. In order to get enough power, you need to get electricity from your Molex connector from you PSU, and be ready to do some DIY.

I remember reading someone explain how to fix this somewhere on these forums.  I searched briefly and found this post.  I remember seeing something more detailed where people were discussing an ebay listing. I can't seem to find it at the moment but hopefully that other post helps.

Thanks for the link buddy,I'm talking to someone on an other forum and I believe he has the same version as the one I want to buy with Cherry MX Blacks and he says that only the version with cheryy MX Clears have this issue,need to make sure before I made the purchase because honestly one thing is living with the curly cable,but splicing cables,modifying,taping them and then on top of all I have to connect it to the PSU which I have to remove an PCI cage in order to get the cable inside the case,ouch no...gotta call TG3 tech support to confirm this.

Well thanks to all but I ended up calling the seller and TG3 going back and forth finding out the exact last codes of the keyboard in order to get full idea of what its going on,yes its a cops keyboard but it doesnt require 12V for the LED's its only 5V so its fine lighting up the keyboard without any cable to PSU modding,its cherry blacks and its brand new and they have 120 in stock. The price is $58 with shipping and you cant beat that for this type of a quality keyboard.I'm getting one for my self now, here is the link http://www.globaltekoutlet.com/TG3-Electronics-BL82-Series-Backlit-Keyboard-p/bl82.htm

Any ways I made a post of this deal in the great finds and time for myself to get me the board now and some other goodies from Amazon (wristrest,bluecube,USB extension)

Get the Gearhead PS/2 to USB adapter from Fry's. Fully compatible with everything I've thrown at it so far (except for the stupid Montereys, they use some retarded timing scheme for their host to board communications). It seems to provide enough current to run two TP82s with back light, one on each of its ports.

I'm using a PS/2 TG3 BL82 with a blue cube this instant. FN key is functional. It just works.

I just purchsed both the blue cube and the TG3, and everything seems to be operating properly. While the keyboard is solidly built, I am not so sold on the black switches as of yet. Aside from greater keystroke resistance, the leap to blacks from rubber domes does not seem to be that great.

the resistance is so strong cause of the splash guard that sits right on top of the switches, open the keyboard and remove the splash guard and u will see huge difference

The blood guard on this keyboard is a very thin sheet, very similar to a saran wrap. I expected that the plastic would have been thicker given the resistance of the keys. I think that maybe I will become more used to this keyboard over time. Hopefully.

no matter how thin it is, it does makes the difference. Remove it and you will see what I'm talking about....

I recently stuffed a blue cube pcb into the casing of my BL82, and with a little soldering, I now have a fully functional, USB-modded BL82.
