lol the splash guard is like...literally a thin sheet of plastic, almost like saran wrap, that they just squeezed the keycaps on top of.  It's held on the sides by hooking it onto one of the pointy solder points on the back of the PCB....

Got rid of that crap right away, and tossed it into the garbage :)

That looks really cool.

I wonder why shipping from Deck is so expensive.  UPS is aggravating in general.  Whenever I order anything 3-day shipping to the east coast, it seems like it gets trapped in Hodgkins, IL for 2 days.

Hmm, the splash guard isn't all that bad.  It is like a landing pad or o-ring.  I think I will just keep it.  It only gets "stiff" at the start of the activation.  I guess it makes the blacks feel a lot like rubber domes with out any tactile feeling.  The back lighting is very awesome. :X.
Concerning NKRO, can handle 6 but fails some combos.  I tested this on aqua key test.  AMAZING DEAL!  This is making it very tempting to get another one now...

I found out that the seller for this board was in my neck of the woods, so I went and picked one up after work that I'd ordered from their outlet website.  It's remarkably stiff to type on, and the keyboard has no feet.  The spacebar is very steep as well, but overall I'm kinda digging it.  Definitely not plug-and-play; had to reboot when I plugged it in, and I definitely need to flip the spacebar, since it's like mountain climbing when all the other keys are so low-profile.  I may do a review of this once I get some typing time in, but I'm so used to reds that this thing really is straining my fingers, and I was on buckling springs before reds.

As other people have said, the spillguard is a joke and gums up the switches.  Had to remove the casing, which is textured plastic mixed with metal plates to hold the screws inside, and a solid aluminum (I think) backplate with 8 screw points.  This thing is very solidly built despite the wobbly feel you get with it resting on the rear plate screws without a mat.  Between the PCB and backplate screws, there are 15 in total holding the thing together, which is really sturdy for such a tiny board.

Overall, this looks to be a great trainer for a KBC Pure or whatever the new one is with blues or browns.  I now have reds and blacks in my collection, and am eager to try a CM Storm to see how blues feel, but may wait if the KBCs are available.

No stabilizers on the spacebar, but it doesn't need them: there are two points on the side where the spacebar attaches, along with the middle one over the actual gray-colored switch.  It is hideously vertical, though, which I intend to fix now.

Edit: Flipping the spacebar makes the board about 10 billion times more comfortable to type on; it's now a gentle slope instead of Everest, and requires much less force to actuate.  You don't need to **** around with any paperclip-frail wire thing or reposition the sockets on either side like I've heard described with the Filcos; just lever up one side, pull it up and away from the board, then lever up the other, flip, and voila!  The right shift is a little tough to get used to, being half-width, but I'm sure I'll grow to expect the repositioned keys.

I may post a full review that's basically this post with some terrible cameraphone shots if need be.

Thanks for your quick impression! I've been debating on picking up this board, and I don't think I will based on your comment about too straining. I currently type on Topre, Browns, and Blues - and was afraid black would be too much for me (dying to try reds though!).

Don't expect to do any gaming on this series; these have controller issues that cause rollover combinations beyond 2 not to work in certain circumstances according to ripster/the NKRO wiki.

Consider these essentially 2KRO keyboards, and try to get used to having them sit on either a mat or your lap for typing.

I read the reviews about that (potential rollover issues).  I still want the KB.  I'm curious how failing the W-A-S combo could be problematic for FPS.  It seems that a person going forward (W) doesn't usually go backward (S) at the same time.  Does this impact another gaming genre other than FPS more negatively or am I missing something about this being no big problem for FPS games?  Anywho...  I use EDSF, not WASD.  ESDF is the CORRECT FPS layout.  :boink:

Yeah to AUS its $138.00 for the board with shipping, and that's using the cheapest option. My 2 x 6970s shipping was less, somewhere in the $40.00 range for both from Amazon.com

Might be better to find someone else to buy some and then mail them out to you with a cheaper service. If I remember right USPS is the cheapest for international.

EDIT* If enough international people wanted, 6 of these only cost ~$38 to ship to my place. And it looks like some USPS options are pretty cheap... First Class was ~$24 to Germany, although might take a while to get there. Priority was ~$40

There are actually two different splash guards possible on the BL82. One is thick silicone and other is thin and flexible--similar to saran wrap. The former changes the characteristics of the keyboard such that you need almost twice as much force to actuate, and the latter was not measurably significant in actuation force. YMMV.
I trolled Geekhack and all I got was an eponymous SPOS.

Photo not required. The silicone one is translucent milky white and the saran wrap one is transparent (except for the mold/fold lines).

First class mail international isn't that expensive. I just calculated that a 4-lb package 13*5*8 inches is like $30. I imagine whatever Blazestorm had in mind is a little smaller and lighter.

Deck may not ship to Canada but the site that lists this deal Globaltekoutlet does!

I have been debating ordering one for awhile now. Shipping was just $15 vis USPS to Canada for awhile there. Just checked again and the shipping price to Canada has Doubled to $36 for USPS Priority. Guess its not worth it for just 1 KB.

You can now add 3 KB for get them shipped to Canada for $32.95 Global Priority Flat Rate Box Med adding 1 more KB jumps the shipping cost to a whopping $76!

You can choose UPS too, but UPS is bad for us CDNs!

Yea, I was guesstimatin. I'm just saying that you could make it more affordable if you don't deal with a company. They usually don't have shipping quotes that favor the customer. (Unless they're big like Newegg/Amazon with free shipping).

I called them up, $50 is the cheapest they'll go (In-case anyone was curious).

But like I said, if enough people were interested in a small group-buy (10-15) to help save some people money. Could do Deck parts too, shipping seems to cap out at about $20 for me, even with 15 cases.

Although it might make even more sense for someone closer to them if shipping is cheaper. 15 boards is ~$70 in shipping to me, or about $55 per board before re-shipping it again. Cases would be $17ish before re-shipping.

EDIT* Appears Fedex shipping is actually $55 on 15 boards, so a bit cheaper...

EDIT2* Also called up Deck, first couple people mentioned group buys. Official e-mail after they talked to someone said no discounts on the casing.

So if anyone is interested in Deck 82 Clear case (that seems to be the only one people want) and the TG3 BL82 for local/international shipping send me a PM so I can gather interest.

Do these come in clears? We just got these new printers installed in our school and every time we want to print we have to send the documnet to the printer and then go log in at the printer itself to print. Anyways they have tiny keyboards like this TG3 and they diffidently feel mechanical..heavy with bumps so im thinking theyre clears. I'll sneak my key puller to class on day and check. They look very very simple in size and layout, but definitely not blacks.
