I'm interested in modding a Kinesis Countour Classic (PS/2 interface) that's coming in the mail, bought used from ebay. I want to add a trackpoint to it, similar to how some IBM thinkpads have them.
Currently, I don't know anything about modding keyboards, let alone how to integrate a trackpoint. I'm starting this thread in order to start gathering information about this mod.
I'm going to first practice the mod on a non-Kinesis keyboard, just in case I fok shet up. However, the sole purpose of the Classic coming in the mail is for me to experiment my ideas on. This way, my current Kinesis Advantage (Brown Switches) doesn't suffer, nor will my other Advantage in the mail, with the Cherry Red switches.
My first inclination is to buy one of those for-parts keyboards on ebay, and gut it for the trackpoint. Something like this keyboard:

Would that keyboard above work for this purpose?
What's some other information that I should start thinking about for this mod? Perhaps pitfalls to avoid, or other resources that already have information about something like this.
