G81-3000LPCEU-2 weired problem !!!
« on: Mon, 28 May 2012, 08:22:27 »
Hello geekhacks! I am facing a rather weird problem (at least for me) with my Cherry G81-3000LPCEU-2 .Suddenly as i was surfing the web , using firefox , but this is not important because it happened also with Chrome , the keyboard came alive and it started opening tabs by itself. At first i didn't pay too much attention , but the problem continued  as i closed firefox and returned to desktop. It was asking me if i was sure to delete the my computer icon without touching anything myself. The same thing happened quite a few times until i restarted the pc.
After the boot , to my surprise, instead of displaying the windows desktop the bios menu showed up and was asking me to load the default settings.Eventually the desktop showed up and without me touching anything appeared the help of windows!
I opened a few programs to check ,but it was opening the help feature of each program also.
I started firefox again, chrome again, and the same thing happened as before. It was impossible to use either firefox or chrome.
It gave me the impression that somehow the F1 key was stuck causing all that trouble.I never abused the keyboard or spill anything on it.I also run a virus check just in case something passed throught my antivirus (comodo).
Finally i had to replace the keyboard and everything got back to normal.
The question is the keyboard is useless or what? I owned it for six months and it supposed to be sturdy and for 50 million clicks - FTSC technology - ,MY switches i think with membrane.

Thanks man but i live in Europe and i don't know if it is worth it.The retail price of a brand new G81 -3000 is about 30 Euros ~ 38 dollars.

Not sure. Control board pcb is fairly small and light, it might not cost too much to ship. But then you could probably get a used g81 local for cheap as well.

Are other models in the G81 series, like the G81-1800 and POS (i.e. with card reader) better constructed than the 3000?
