it's ridiculous how expensive vet bills get.

last year my brother's dog had a bone stuck in his lower intestine.. 2000 and that was without surgery. all this happened on xmas/xmas eve. we had to spend xmas at the emergency vet. luckily he was able to pass the bone eventually.

Some people just don't feel the same way about pets.  Worked with a guy willing to take in a dog that was a stray and such, but if it needed an expensive surgery he'd "take it out back".

I had to give my dog to my mom to take care of since my new apartment wouldn't let her stay cuz she's too big.  Drove her from Georgia to Connecticut...

I kind of felt the way Djuzuh did at one point. I had a dog growing up but was really too young to look at her as part of the family. When I moved in with my girlfriend I just found her cat to be a nuisance especially since he hated me at first. Then a couple years ago we got a kitten and since my girlfriend had "her" cat the new kitten basically became mine. She is afraid of everyone but us and one day a guy came to clean the chimney and I thought she got out and ran away. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so devastated and heart broken. I felt like I let her down and there is no way I could ever think of just replacing her. Luckily she was hiding some place we couldn't find her and she came out after a couple hours. It took me having a pet of my own as an adult to really get on the same level as other pet owners.

I hope everything turns out well for Mika. Unplanned expenses are rough. I'll gladly donate what I can if you need more for Mika's surgery.

a pet isn't just a best friend and a family member but an inseparable part of your life that centers you. when i was 8, my mother brought home a golden puppy that was my best friend for the next 13 years. i still think about him every day, and if he were alive today and suffering i would sell every keyboard, gadget, the clothes off my back to get him better.

Talked to vet today. She needs to go in for blood work to see if she can handle being put under anesthesia. I should be able to take her on Saturday and schedule surgery for Wednesday.

I just found the thread. I with the best for the dog.

In July 2005 I met a redhead whose dog just had surgery. I asked for her phone number so that I could ask how the dog is. I married her a year later and we now have two beautiful daughters! So you never know what good might come out of an ostensibly bad experience such as this.

took her into the vet this morning (around 8:30) so they can take out blood for her tests. poor vet tech came out the backroom sweaty as hell from holding her down. this vet is so awesome. great staff and cheap compared to others. anyway, they told me they'd call me on monday with the results and hopefully i'll be able to schedule her surgery for wednesday.

if anybody needs any proof (bills) i'd be happy to post pics. though i'd like to think im trustworthy enough that it wont be needed. but if so, just let me know.

Posting the bills are irrelevant unless you want to show prospective dog owners what potential costs can be.

As far as providing proof of costs...it's a moot issue. People did what they did or didn't what they didn't based on different criteria. Your life, issues, statements are not in question.

yeah i just got my furminator + vacuum out and her leashed and tied her outside so i can comb her hair.

i had to bribe her with ice to get her to sit still for a minute.......... or 2 hours actually
