Cutouts are just right! Thanks, Beast!

Looks nice. I think Beast used the switch hole dimensions I gave him, so how are the switches fitting? The switches are snug, but just loose enough so it doesn't lock, right?
Yes, that's it exactly. Thanks for your help with the design. This is going to work great! :D

Well, thanks for being the guinea pig! I'll probably want a similar but modified ones of these. Although, I stopped keyboard modding for the time being.

Came in over the past week...

You just got a hot air gun? I see some solder paste. What are you going to use the hot air on?

I got the rework tool over the winter.  I'm going to use it to solder the SMD components to the boards.  I know you're always saying that the hot air will melt the switches, but there is plenty of work to do before the switches go in!

Got these today, pretty classic keycaps.
I'm a bit disappointed that they're not of the exact same size than my keyset, I should have checked that instead of compulsively clicking on buy !

It would have been my pleasure, unfortunately the one I'm not going to use is the red on white.
(I bought the set for the white on red, but I think the black and the orange ones may look good on my board.)

I got Daniel's Pure yesterday.

I won't post pictures until I get the LEDs sat down correctly. Some of them are sitting a little high and it's changing the profile on some of them or not allowing the caps to bottom out.

Nice! After many months of waiting, it finally showed up.

LEDs that have the little bump at the bottom will have this problem. That's why all LEDs I install, do this mod. It lets the LED sit flush to the switch so it won't interfere with the keycaps

Notes:
1. This is the first time Australia Post has opened one of these O/S packages.
2. They managed to put their sticker right across the decoration on the envelope.
3. My daughter, not the sender, wrote "To Daddy" on it :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

yep! that's actually what I did on my QFR. It's a really bad problem right now because I'm brutally beating this Pure up. I'm used to Greens, and these are ergo-clears.
