Best mech KB with blue LED backlighting?
« on: Mon, 30 July 2012, 19:48:10 »
I'm getting ready to purchase my first mechanical keyboard but I'm having some trouble choosing which one to go with.

It sounds silly, but LED back lighting is one of the man parameters in making my choice. Mainly because I like it and it will aesthetically match the rest of my setup.

My budget is in the $100-$150 range and preferably something I can get on Amazon since i have some credit there, but I know the best ones aren't listed on Amazon. My switch preference is either blue or brown.

I want the Ducky Shine, but the original model appears to be discontinued and I don't know if I have the patience to wait for the Shine II and the Ducky boards seem to be cheaply made and not a KB built to last so throwing down that chunk of change on it may not be the best investment, but looks wise, it's definitely what I want.

Dk9008 series (shines) aren't typically the Duckys getting ripped on GH.

A Shine sounds like what you're looking for unless you can bump your budget up a bit to a Deck or a Dragon.

Haha. I just re-read the post and I can see how it could be read 'all blue LEDs in existence' instead of 'the following are all blue led boards'

You show me a better way to link to 16 different blue led boards and I'm all ears ;)

I've been telling customers to buy RK-9000s on newegg lately so I'm not as biased as you may think (they were practically giving them away)

Haha, was mostly joking. I don't think you're out to rip anyone off.

Thank you. Unfortunately, your link isn't working on my PC and the shop link on the site isn't loading, either. I've browsed your site before, though. It's very nice.

I think I am going to hold out for the Ducky Shine II. I just hope it's release is more in line with mid August instead of mid September.

How difficult will it be to get a hold of a Ducky Shine II with cherry blues or browns once it's released? Is it going to be out of stock immediately after it goes on sale or should it not be a problem ordering one as soon as it goes on sale? Also, what's the price point going to look like? Hoping below $150.

The Rosewill RK9000 is a good option.  I'm using the earlier version - without the LEDs - and it's a great board.  You can find them on Newegg.
