Asus Announces USB 3.0 for their product line
« on: Sun, 28 March 2010, 13:08:14 »
Almost as impressive as my motherboard:

The ASUS one there pictured still has PS/2. I think eventually it may be dropped (IBM computers no longer use it ironically). But, it could be sticking around for awhile still.
Keyboards: '86 M, M5-2, M13, SSK, F AT, F XT

Mine? No, it was made by "MSIS" (so "MSI" I'm guessing -- don't know what the extra S is for).

The firewire port pointing up is to connect the front stuff: so it's not all that odd. The cable management however is kind of odd; but it works very nicely, and no cords get hurt.

Edit: I'm going crazy, BTX, yes I think so. One fan to bring in air, and one fan on the back to shoot out air (with a whole bunch of other fans).

You'll have a hard time trying to find any sort of PC port on a contemporary IBM machine...

Back on topic, I for one cannot wait until I can send characters from my keyboard to my computer about 50% faster than the speed of the hard drive interface on my motherboard.

What a crappy connector design. Looks fragile and unreliable, and different for the sake of it.

Is it too much to ask for simple connectors that can be inserted either way up (quite a reasonable expectation for differential signalling) and make some effort to be self-orientating when you plug them in rather than make you fumble around trying to persuade them to go in?

At least the original USB connector had an elegant simplicity to it.

Some examples of connectors that could be plugged in either way up. The protocols just have to negotiate the polarity of signalling, just like any decent modern Ethernet connector does. Adding extra data lines is trivial, I won't bother drawing them.
