I'm Lost Without LOST!

I agree completely on the developing characters - this series you really felt you knew each character in great depth and you really understood why they did what they did and the significance of even little things that happened on the show, because you knew where they came from and what motivates them.

This has a good summary of the finale, but I've only read half of it.  I'm still in shock from last night.

Great ending IMO.  If they answered absolutely every single question, that woudln't be LOST's style.  I think they answered enough and left enough up for viewers to have their own take.  It was perfect.

I cried during the series finale and once more because ripster and I didn't have a montage sequence. I was hoping J.J Abrams would direct it. the story was predictable but done well.

no Heroes is also sad. all I have to watch this fall is Dexter, Caprica and Stargate Universe :(

Lost interest after three or four episodes. Should I give it another try?

Feeling an urge to watch The Wire again, but trying hard to put it off till winter. The first time I watched all 60 episodes in two weeks. That's... unhealthy.

I wouldn't watch LOST unless you're in the mood to see the best series of all time.  You would need to avoid spoilers and start at the beginning which would be hard to do now.

that is the problem with story driven television series they lose they're appeal if you watch them over and over unlike television series that reset every week.

Six Feet Under had the best series finale.

I liked The Wire's ending.  The journalism angle was weaker than the others, though.

David Simon the creator of The Wire was a newspaper writer for a Baltimore paper.

One of the other writers was an ex-cop-turned-teacher.  Presbo's character was based on him.  A lot of the street kids were local, including Snupe.  They did great casting for that show.

it's definitely different. it's about a family living in Baltimore. the father is a "Bubbles", recovering mother, son is slinging. there is no police, press or politics perspective like The Wire and it's not story driven it's more of a documentary based on a true story.

in fact I think The Wire fans will enjoy The Corner more.

would that be the Cadillac or Lexus of nail guns? :P

"Snupe" is how it's spelled on the DVD on the org chart.  I don't watch the credits, so I didn't see how it's spelled there.  Wikipedia has it as "Snoop," though.

I don't watch TV or any shows besides the occasional Fox News or the A-Team. I don't have cable. I usually go on the Internet usually once or twice every two days. I get virtually all my news and weather out of the newspaper every morning.

So guess how "lost" I am without a show I've never seen?

I read from a couple sources last year or the year before the Lost cast had some kind of falling out with the actor who played Eko, he didn't treat people right and thought they were amateurs or something like that. it would explain why he was killed off and wasn't invited to return.

he was my second favorite character, thought his character was deep and rich.

Tomorow episode 9 will be aired overhere. I watched the first 4 seasons on DVD, the immersion factor was great. To bad the season didn´t last a week. Now I just can´t wait for the DVD to come out so I just awaits the next episode, 10 to go.

I absolutely loved watching Lost!!! I don't watch that much tv but I am glad I got into this show!

I really enjoyed the character developement and the way they treated each episode. It always felt more like a wonderful movie once a week. From the incredible location, to what I found to be very fitting actors, to the musical score.

It has always reminded me of that game "Myst" I played when I was very young on my Mac IIci. Except I enjoyed the show WAAAAY more =)

I think I will watch it from the begining (I probably missed about 1/3 of the series here and there). I am currently trying to get my girlfriend into the idea of watching it with me, unfortunately I don't think she even has the slightest motivation for it. Maybe I can entice her with some brownies and pizza perhaps (not in that order).

I am actually very happy that they didn't give some type of uber concrete answer to everything. It's the only time I have watched something that actually in some small part felt like I was reading a book. It was a real treat to be sure.

I can't wait to go back and watch some or all of it again =)

I just can't watch prime time TV. As soon as they describe anything as reality, I know its a lie. As long as there is a camera nearby, there is NO reality. I only keep cable around so I can watch Formula 1 racing and eventually I'll find a way to do that online.

Hey Adobe should buy Twitter, and then make it so it can't be used on the iPad. All the fanboys will be crying because they can't twitter with their buddies while watching Idols. Would be too heavy for their network. Ultimate irony.

NBC and Time Warner are sticking with Flash.  We'll see how that pans out.  That tactic worked great with HD-DVD.

I forget the details but wasn't HD-DVD actually a superior format?

Something about cost or licensing restrictions...

In any event, I don't miss LOST. I only watch such quality television as the Jerry Springer show.

...but really, I do like Criminal Minds quite a bit.

Not really.  HD-DVDs could be made using the same machinery, tooling, etc. so in theory, manufacturers could transition quickly with less cost.  Video quality was the same.  I'm not too sure why Blu-Ray won, but I think it had a lot to do with Warner Bros. (IIRC) jumping from the HD-DVD bandwagon to Blu-Ray.

Hmmm...I'm lost trying to figure out what "Lost" is. For many years, I've been working 1 to 9 PM at a job that doesn't allow prime time TV anyway. So, I'm not hating as much as just "not knowing" about nightly TV. Buy the time I can watch anything, its Discovery, History, Military channels etc. Obviously, my racing fix is only on the weekends.

Question...is this a "reality" type of show?

I like Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica and Stargate. never liked Star Wars.

The Pacific is a little different than Band of Brothers. Band of Brothers takes you from Boot Camp to Germany and focuses around Easy Company. The Pacific takes you from Guadalcanal to Okinawa and focuses around 3 characters.

The Pacific also paces the action better. in Band of Brothers there was no action until the end of Episode 2 and in The Pacific you see action at the end of Episode 1. in Band of Brothers after Episode 6 the action was over. the action sequences in The Pacific are definitely larger scale.
