ALPs Keyboard find, need ID Help
« on: Fri, 03 August 2012, 19:56:24 »
Just picked this beast up, label removed, maybe Chicony?

Light blue clicky ALPs switches (don't feel nearly an heavy as Montereys)

sweet ribbon connector.

Seen that keyboard around. It is a Chicony. They switch look like Monterey but you say they are lighter. Hmm, variant?

Dye sub caps?

That's the same (annoying) layout as my Tulip, except that being European, the blank key is put to use (£ goes above 3, \ moves to below left shift, # to below right shift).

What on earth is with that +9 V on/off switch? And the ribbon cable – is that a separate lead from the PC/AT lead?

That all looks like it was modified to have it. What the crap would anyone want to add a 9v battery for? Besides adding wireless, which this doesn't seem like.

But yeah, those definitely look like monterey's.

Oh, those switches are blue "Montereys". That fact has already been established.

Are there any leads cut on the circuit board? What kind of electronics is there inside?
Because most wires are soldered to the number pad, I would guess that it would be some kind of calculator mod and that the ribbon cable would go to a display.
