A closer crop of these silver and clear on white, and the metallic red (metallic velvet?):

Ben - Can I ask why the clear molded legend in a color cap are not available for order?

It seems like those would be excellent for a back-lit board.

The "damn it" cap expresses my feelings exactly haha. I wish they would make a few more of those caps not available for order. I think there would be heaps of demand for them.

That video was also super cool Lit. Also heaps interesting seeing what the first shot mold looks like.

I'm kinda surprised they they gave away keys from private legends.  I mean I'm ok with it for mine because you guys are cool, but whenever I want to use a private legend, I need to get authorization.

Hi I3oilermaker, sorry if this was offside.  we had just a couple leftover parts from the last time we produced for you so they went into the swag bags which is to say we did not actually run your tools/put any use onto the mystery cap any of your legends.  I'll PM you to see what i can do for the party foul.  thanks,

Aha! The truth comes out, it is Mr. Boiler!  Since boiler gives away his mystery keycaps, it shouldn't be a problem if we get a few of his cool caps in our goodie bags.  If that is not cool, I would be happy to mail them back to Boiler or put a hammer on each of them.

these are not the droids you are looking for.

Isn't it because: The um... "grid" part of the colored shot "shows through" on (partially obscures) parts of the "clear legend (that we "didn't see")?" (wow that is some complicated punctuation...)

Someone who's first name starts with "M," once sent me a pic of "why we don't do clear-legend double-shots," in response to my best attempt at a polite and thorough, technical and specific inquiry, about why such a thing was not available (and whether they could, you know, just do it anyway...).

Obviously, i was thinking "back-light fans would love a back-lit key cap that never wears out..." (as i'm sure all you back-light fans surely would)

your post has inspired me to ditch my career in engineering and get an Eng Lit degree.  I'll have that in 4-6 years (ok lets face it, 8-12 years) and then i'll be able to decipher your punctuation and provide you an appropriate response.

In the meantime, these aren't the droids your looking for?

The way-too-over-simplified answer, basically, was:

"Because it looks like crap." (because the legend would not be able to fully and evenly illuminate)

So, yes, these are, indeed, not "the droids" we're looking for.

Although, i'm sure it could be worked out, somehow, at some point, when someone finally has the right brilliant idea to make it work out as intended.

Like, idk, maybe "Key-onardo Da Vinci."

Yes, i am ashamed of myself for making such a cringe-worthy word-play.

These are made with custom metallic silver color, not available to order.  We made enough for metallic silver blank WASD and the nipple keys.  Well actually more than enough for two rolls of blanks:

Come to think of it, a full set of these matellic silver keycaps could look really cool with my silver KMAC Or silver KMAC Mini.

Looks like a fantastic day and a unique goodies bag.

Thank you for sharing the photos, for those who could not go.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
