Ordered my first buckling spring!
« on: Fri, 21 September 2012, 11:19:31 »
Well, it probably isn't the first I've ever owned as I probably had one back in the nineties when they were the norm, but I just ordered a Wildcats buckling spring from Unicomp! I'm happy because I need a heavy, sturdy mechanical for work that I wouldn't be afraid to leave over night and that isn't going to quickly develop shine and require me replacing the keycaps with expensive key cap sets. The Wildcats board from Unicomp was only $59 before shipping and I like the blue/white layout. I'm hoping it'll be here on Monday... :)

I like the blue/white layout.

I like that layout, myself. I wonder if Unicomp would sell the blue keycaps exclusively. I might call and ask.

UPDATE: Turns out they don't.

Though that tie-in always struck me as a little strange, the blue-on-beige look is actually pretty nice.  My old IBM board is a treat to type on, and your Unicomp should be too.  Happy typing!

The old IBM/Lexmark/Unicomp factory is in Lexington, Kentucky, home of the UK Wildcats, of course.

I used to live there, but sadly never got a chance to check out their parking lot.

I visited last weekend, but the person I traveled with wasn't interested in making a visit.

Unicomp is, of course, excellent quality.
