i'm the last person to rely on to do accurate accounting, but unfortunately i paid for everything so you're stuck with me. approximately 10-12$ of each pack is going straight into production costs, unfortunately, meaning each purchase is about a 9$ donation to geekhack. we released about 20% of our stock today. tomorrow we will release about 20-30% more.
each day we will release a slightly different version of the pack; today's release was the most basic, and cheapest version of the pack. we have some other miscellaneous stuff we may put into tomorrow's packs, but the price will vary with what is actually in the pack (and it can only go higher).
we are using the "premium pack" terminology to refer to a very very limited set of items we have which are independently valuable. the most valuable of these is a full unused R3 keycap set. We haven't decided exactly how much to sell these for yet, but a) we will release premium packs at random daily and b) please don't hold off buying a pack because you're holding out for a premium. if you've already bought a pack and you end up getting a premium, tell us and we can find something fun to throw in to sub for the base pack.
anyway, i hope everyone has some fun with this, because the goal was to make some cool stuff and then to use it to raise funds in an exciting way instead of just begging for 10$ donations from everyone via guilt (see: PBS/NPR). instead, i wanted to exemplify my vision of geekhack: a place for people to make cool stuff, play around with it, send it to each other, and then gather round and talk about what other cool stuff we can make.
