(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I am also in San Antonio, it would be cool to have a meetup organized here sometime.

Texas is pretty large. And I believe I've said it before: until we just pick a set place and date, nothing will move forward with this.

I agree. Again, its central. What kind of things could we do there. And what would be a good date?

I'd love to have a sorting party for RainDrop (since they aren't presorted!), but I won't be available the weekends around when they should get here. :-).

Otherwise, perhaps we can arrange a tour of Das keyboard or gold touch or something?  Or maybe if we do it after GH60s come in, we can have a big keyboard building party?  Just some random ideas.

I was thinking a contest to see who can build or strip a keyboard the fastest. Maybe we could do that around GH60 time. Das would be interesting to tour. Also, I'm not sure how much everyone would like doing outdoor things, but I believe there are some caves with a waterfall near Austin that I'm interested in visiting.

Anyone else have any ideas or input?

I think this should include the two oklahomans so they don't feel left out, and be done before summer so one of them doesn't become a floridian or wherever she's going.

We're moving to Orlando, FL Very Soon™ Going to hang out with VesperSAINT and some other Florida peeps. Ironically enough, Morgan's brother just married a girl from TX and moved from KC to Austin :P

Edit - Hmmmm maybe on the way out, but San Antonio/Austin are still 6+ hours out of the way

We're talking. Austin might not be a bad idea, because she could visit her brother as well. Just go with whatever location you want and we'll try and come.

PS - We'll definitely be visiting Austin quite a bit after we move to Orlando, so if not this one, we will make it a point to meet up later.

That's why you're here so we can finalize a day where you're still close by...

Moose mentioned a DFW meetup for around July, but I figured you'd be gone by then.

Also, the other Texas (and non-Texasers) should join in

Hey, Texans and nearby Geekhackers...

I have the itch to go camping! Would anyone care to join me on the weekend of May 17-19? I was thinking maybe Brownwood State Park or Cleburne State Park. Unless someone knows of a better place?

I usually move back up to the Amarillo area during the summers, but I'm not this summer or I'd go! Although Brownwood is about as close to Amarillo as it is to where I am now.. Cleburne is a little closer.

Looks amazing!

And let's do this thing! It doesn't have to be anything spectacular. What weekends are people free for a meetup?

Not June 8th, 15th, or 22nd for me, but any other weekend currently looks good. :)

Also, depending on the weekend, I'm happy to host too.  (If people want to drive to Wimberley)
