iPhone 5 on T-Mobile | "Dramatically Different"
« on: Sat, 08 December 2012, 17:55:45 »
Basically T-Mobile are going to start selling and officially supporting the iPhone 5 and iPads, but with some secretive twists, apparently. They did mention their "Value Plan," in which a consumer pays full price for a phone and in return pays lower monthly rates as opposed to the standard 2 year contract with large monthlies. I'm on T-Mobile, so I'm interested particularly, but we'll all have to wait to know what all those "dramatic differences" are.

Even HSPA+ is going to be iffy at first.  TMo is having to add radio frequencies to support iPhone.

Actually, now sii92 is really interested in getting a Windows phone, haha. I'm not going to get into the smartphone world for awhile even still, but I follow these shenanigans from time to time.

T-Mobile are updating all their towers and hopefully still expanding coverage, but I'm unsure of their ability to compete with AT&T and Verizon in the iPhone market. I think all it will mean is fewer customers lost to those other companies because of iPhone availability.

Wow, I didn't notice that until now! I think it's just a graphic made by CNET, though, so no fault should go to T-Mobile not understanding their product that badly hehe

What is really going on in is the contract with at&t buying out tmobile has fall through and tmobile hold off on their r&d and expanding their network and improving them... part of the contract if they cannot buy out the company they will be able to use their towers. This is the main reason why iphone frequency is be able to be use on tmobile.

since there is a huge market on iphone and currently they cannot get a contract with them they implemented the idea to lure customers with iphone to switch over to their service and in return they are giving out gift cards or credit to them sometime in the near future (heard from a tmo rep) and plans will be cheaper compare to others since your not getting a new phone anyways
with that said.. they state to have full 3g and 4g lte to work in Q1 in 2013 for the iphone. so lets see where this takes!

Cheapest plan out there is T-Mobile.

Cheapest over value is Sprint.

AT&T is best for int'l.

Verizon is premium.

I have T-Mobile. They have the cheapest phone deals,  cheapest plans, and more flexible phone regulation. They also have weak 4G and roaming coverage and run on a different frequency than the rest of the world.

T-Mobile phones seem to have a higher value and resale value to them. The T-Mobile family deals are pretty nice if you get them in the right time.  Plus you get to pay for the T-Mobile girl ;)
