Once the intiial rush wore off, I started to wonder what I would actually do with 1000 keycaps.  That's about 10 keyboards worth.  Of random caps.  Maybe a few special ones.  A few unicorn vomit boards, but apart from that?

They would come in a fairly big box, which explains the shipping.  Then I'd have to explain it to my other half :))

we named them crap bags for a reason.

there is nothing good in them. maybe of the 1000 pieces, you'd get 10 novelty keycaps. everything else is random numbers and letters that have a high chance of not creating anything.

There was definitely some cool stuff in the bags, but about 80% (made up statistic) of the people ended up just reselling them as a whole because they were too lazy to sort through all the useless keycaps.

With that being said, I bought a bag last year and will do it again this year =)

Welcome to GeekHack by the way, and yes I am still debating over whether to get this "crap bag" or not. I'm afraid I'll just have 1000 useless keys in my closet :/

Welcome to Geekhack!

This will be a huge boost to your custom keycap collection, but don't get your hopes up too high.  Going by the photos linked above, these sets seem to consist of several hundred Shift and CapsLock keys, and whatever else.  You might get lucky :)
