Keycap Removal Tip
« on: Sat, 23 March 2013, 00:56:37 »
Just incase any of you didn't know this, an average guitar pick makes for a pretty great keycap remover, I prefer it over a wire puller easily. :D

Hmmm, I have various guitar picks... but I do not really see how they make a good keycap removal tool . Some instructions maybe?

One thing that I am not able to do with a pick is put equal pressure on both sides of the keycap to gently remove them. Though I suppose you could just jam it in there and pop it off......  :))

Yeah I kinda just put slide it in the bottom and slowly pop it up. Idk if this is bad or not, I havent had a problem yet.

hmm i could see that this is good in a bind but it does not give uniform force pulling up. this could result in a broken stem if not done carefully as this method would require one side of a keycap to take all the stress. i am not sure how great the guitar pick method maybe removing larger keys that require stabs.

If you're only lifting it up from one side, it's not putting even pressure on the stems. Wire puller is still probably fastest and safest.
