DuPont™ Krytox® GPL 103 Group Buy
Commonly mixed with DuPont™ Krytox® GPL 205 grease, this is an outstanding lubricant for Cherry MX Switches.

Orders will be taken until April 19, 2013. Invoicing will follow, with ALL PAYMENTS DUE BY APRIL 26, 2013.

Details
Oil will be packaged in 1/2 oz. (14g) amounts, by weight. Each bottle will contain approximately 7.5mL of oil by volume.
Lead time from the date I place the order is approximately two weeks for me to receive the shipment.

That would be a pain. Second question, it would be too runny if it wasn't mixed with grease. Also, because that's what WFD recommends

Well the reason why I personally use a 1:1 ratio of 205 and 103 mixture is because it feels a tad more slick than only 103 or 205 alone. It looks more like a gel or lotion type of texture. Also they have different properties. 103 is oil, and oil tends to run and doesn't stay put compared to grease. You don't want it migrating around inside the switch too much, and this is especially not good for stabilizers. Grease is good for stabilizer because it stays put. Too much 205 inside your switch will gum everything up. I purposely tried too much 205 on the sliders, and it actually makes the switch sluggish. So if you mix 205 with a little bit of oil, it's more forgiving in the amount you apply, in case you ever want to get lazy with applying consistent amounts.

You should experiment with what works best for you though. They all feel different, and it's subjective, similar to how teflon lube feels compared to other thicker lube.

Updated shipping prices slightly. US orders will ship with tracking. Int'l wasn't quite as high as I had projected.

Also, shipping price is the same whether you order 1 or 2 bottles.

No, you don't want to use white lithium inside switches. That is fine for stabilizers, but what you want inside the switches is a mixture 1:1 of 103 and 205.

I'm not doing a GB for 205, because you can easily get that on eBay.

One bottle should last several keyboards. So two bottles even more.

It's recommended to mix this 1:1 with the 205 grease. 7.5 mL of this with 7.5 mL of 205 gives you about 15 mL of lube. I would say it takes between 1-2 mL to lube an entire keyboard. You just want a thin layer on the lubed surfaces.

Use Victorinox Multi Tool Oil for lubing the springs.

So I have a question. I've never even considered my board needing to be lubed up. I've used it daily for years now... what sort of symptoms would necessitate this sort of effort? From those vids it seemed like a massive amount of work... but the price in this group buy is pretty outstanding so I'm considering it anyways lol.

I think it's widely agreed that lube does make it feel more smooth, and also no one will argue it will take massive amounts of time. No one lubes because they feel something is wrong with the keys, but rather it enhances the switches even more. If you're perfectly fine with the switches you've been typing on for years, there's really no need to do it. But if you're looking for more or just want to experiment, then you might realize what you've been missing out on this whole time. Although this is still a subjective matter. You might not even like it at all, but highly unlikely

I'd say try a small batch of keys, mount it on a plate and put your favorite caps on, and type away. Then you can decide if you want to invest the time to do the whole keyboard. You definitely need to do more than 1 switch though, because pressing on one is not the same as typing on several keys.

Especially tactile switches often feel very scratchy. Lubing makes them feel soooooo smooth. Since I lubed my clears they feel so much better and are now my perfect switch and my daily driver for my office (I only used 205 not 103). It does take a lot of time, but in my opinion it is well worth both the time and money. For me this was one of the biggest improvements of typing experience of all the mods for my keyboards.

Also just watched the video and that packaging of the 103 is what we in my country call a Mogelpackung.... so much packaging for such a tiny bottle

It can be used directly, but since it isn't very viscous it might not stick very well to certain parts of the switch. This is why it's advised to mix with GPL 205.

Some updates!

Well, today is the deadline for payments, and I only have one outstanding invoice remaining. Great job on the quick payments, everyone!

Luckily, the people who paid quickly allowed me to place the order for the lube early, and it arrived from DuPont at NetMercury today. They will ship it out to me this afternoon, and it should arrive sometime next week.

I already ordered all the small bottles for packaging, and received them yesterday. I also received the bubble mailers I ordered for shipping, so once the lube arrives, I will be able to start packaging it for shipment.

I plan on having all orders shipped no later than May 6th, except for those I have spoken with about combined shipping with other things. Apparently, I did a really good job estimating costs for everything, because it doesn't look like I'll be going out-of-pocket for any expenses, nor will I be making any money on this. I will be getting a couple of those bottles of lube for free, so thanks everyone for covering that for me.

Again, I want to thank everyone for making this group buy a success!

Unfortunately, there doesn't look to be enough for any extras. I MIGHT be able to get another 1/2 oz. out of what's left in the bottle, but I think I'm just going to keep it. Spillage of drops when pouring into smaller containers accounts for some loss. Sorry for the disappointing news.

I might run another GB in a few months, though.

JESUS it took forever to clean off the grease I had already applied to my switches, but after doing that and applying a mix of the 103 and my 205, I feel like it makes a world of difference. And it only took me two movies to do, although granted one of them was Kingdom of Heaven director's cut.

4 hours for just lubing. 103+205 on stems and bottom housing, victorinox multi tool oil on springs (i ended up not dipping them, used a second paint brush instead). The initially disassembly and stickering took ~3 hours.

I spent 8 hours lubing my 87 switches yesterday. I took my time with each switch and lubed it exactly as WFD instructed in his video tutorial. I was watching SC2 on twitch.tv throughout most of the lubing, so it may have added 2-3 hours to the total time. I timed myself lubing each switch and average around 3 minutes. I've yet to solder the switches back onto the board due to a lack of free time, but hopefully I'll be able to do it tomorrow

I can't wait to see how they feel with the keycaps back on.
