$60 shipping was $9... probably overpaid right? I wasnt able to find prices for the M2 so it was a shot in the dark...

But its quite clean for used and get this... working capacitors (awsome)... and its model #1395300 which wikipedia says is buckling spring. Non removable keycaps ( the one piece not two) and non removable ps/2 wire

Either way im still excited to own a buckling spring keyboard now

Will take some high res pics when it arives in the mail. Listing pics were very grainy.

Authentic Model M for $60 seems like a good idea.

The M2s are less desirable because of higher failure rates, but a good one would be nice and worth more.

They are fairly rare. The footprint is a big plus, I would be curious about the feel compared to a standard M, long-term.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

I have never been able to try out a regular model m but when it arrives in the mail I will be sure to describe the keyboard the best i can

Thanks for the replies

I paid less for either of my two M2s, so I think that you overpaid a little. That was two-three years ago, though.

The keycaps are one-piece, but removable. It is a flat keyboard with all keycaps the same size, so you can reorder the keycaps to e.g. Dvorak layout if you want to.
Be very careful when you insert a key, though. Make sure that the spring is pointing straight up so that it does not get bent.

I find the feel to be not as solid as a Model M because of the lighter construction and the flat keys. I also find it to be a bit more loud.

Depends on the condition of the board, frankly. There is no "overpaid" or "underpaid" without actually looking at the board. That said, $60 is eminently reasonable for an M2 in fair to good cosmetic with no functional problems. (Bear in mind, prices are also on the rise for all buckling spring boards. M2 included.)
If the capacitors are leaky, my general recommendation is to repair ASAP, as the chemicals can damage the PCB and potentially the matrix over time. Otherwise, there's not many real problems with the M2.

There's nothing actually wrong with the M2 either. People don't like it - but that's strictly personal preference. I'm not a huge fan, but it's still a solid keyboard.

So depending on condition, I'd say you probably got either a fair price or a very good deal.
