Yup. That, and I love compacts. And always admired the HHKB, but the not the price tag or the PCB mounts.

Variable is nice for work. typing all day.. it cant be beat. So it was getting used @ work there for a while.

Thanks for letting me know! Always curious to learn how people use things. I agree with you though, the compact form factor on these 660M's are awesome :)

Is there a carrier in EU for Leopold? If not, I might consider selling it to EU.

Not that I'm aware of.  Oddly, Leopold-China is only selling the FC660M (the one I purchased from you).

The Topre switch Leopold- FC660C - (which I just purchased from Elite, and never thought to ask you about) is not listed.

I'm sure that they would sell.

Watch out, those sites were found with Trojan viruses.

Leopold FC660C keyboard vs. Realforce 87u by blakespot, on Flickr

It feels like I imagine a HHKP feels. The typing sound is similar based on YouTube vids. This uniform 45g feels "tighter" and more "solid" than my 35g, 45g variable Realforce 87u. I think I prefer the feel of the Leopold.

What weight is your 87U? Also, give it a week or so to break in, the keys loosen up slightly.

35g, 45g (yea and esc is 55g...) on the RF.

I like the tightness.

I am jealous. I have to wait until Friday. Do you think the yellow keycaps that they sell at Elitekeyboards would work for this? I wonder if there are sizes that differ on certain keys. Congratulations on the new keyboard.  :D

Unfortunately the bottom modifier keys won't fit :( They're 1.5x 1x 1.5x on the RF boards, these are all 1.25. Then the Right Shift is a bit smaller I think? All the 1x1 keys and the spacebar will fit though!

It barely seems smaller than the realforce? Could be the picture but actually how much smaller is it (width). I would expect two key widths on the realforce, but I could be overlooking something.

The modifiers on the leopold are 1.25 rather than 1.5 which is the standard for the realforce modifiers afaik.

55g 87U or a 660C.

That is thy question.

Already owned & sold my former HHKB.

I wish they'd make a 55g 660C. Of course, I haven't felt any Topre's yet but I assume I'll like a slightly more stiff switch.

I myself have a realforce all 55g and I think I would prefer a slightly lighter switch.

Red ESC from Realforce 87u (have an orange ESC on that board now).

I bought one. I will do a video review after i get it. I still think i am not going to sell my HHKB. I still love it and with the exception of the nondedicated arrow keys, it is  a wonderful keyboard.

I'm trying to decide between both, too. What makes the hhkb so great, in your opinion?

What made the HHKB great for me was the Fn layer layout and the small profile with accompanying transport tote. What I didn't like was the price.

The price in its own way is a selling point. What better way to convince everyone that your product is superior to everyone else's than buy pricing it at a much higher premium than rival products.

I can't see how you could use the Fn key comfortably.  I would rather it be in the right alt key's position or to the left of it but with a smaller spacebar.  Custom keycaps would be more of a problem though.

What i love about the HHKB is the compact size and the keys didn't feel mushy like the Realforce did to me. I think i am the only one who really doesn't care for the Realforce as much as the HHKB. I don't like that the HHKB doesn't have dedicated arrow keys though and that is part of the reason i bought the Leopold.

Just received my FC660C from Elite, and my FC660M from Qtang.  Will give my opinions at a later time, but,at the moment, I have a question.  On both keyboards, the Insert/Overwrite key works, but there is no LED lighting up.  Has anyone else experienced this?

That's by design (although I'll admit it's a weird one). The LED on the insert key is for indicating the Escape key mode (toggled by hitting fn+Q).

Admittedly, most keyboards don't use an LED for insert/overwrite mode though.

Thanks...  That eases my mind a bit, although, like you, also puzzles it.

You can really feel the weight difference between the two boards, although both feel like little armored cars.  The FC660M = 700 grams, and the FC660C = 550 grams.  For most, I think this is good, since the majority seem to be ordering the FC660C, and it will be a lighter burden to tote around (e.g. to and from work).

Also, the FC660M came in a plain, flat, tan box (unlike the photos), but included everything, including the extra 3 blank colored keys.

Mine arrived today...absolutely love the switches/feel. However, come to realize that I simply prefer a full-size board...wallet about to feel some more pain.

I just got mine today and i love it. The keys feel great. They are slightly less noisy than the HHKB but otherwise perfect. I didn't have any problems with the base board like some have complained about. Mine feels and looks great! I think i will use this more than my HHKB but i am not going to sell the HHKB. I will use that as a backup. Thanks to the guys at EliteKeyboards for once again giving great customer service.  ;D
