Oh trust me, majority of the photos were taken without the flash. I kind of just experimented with the flash, and it gave me brilliant lighting... $550 flash; it better... However, pretty much every photo going in here will be without flash (natural lighting) <3 Can't break away from my signature style now, can I... LOL.

Not quite, but it chewed up all the RAM and the whole computer nearly locked up for about 5 minutes until I could close the tab.

These are my very first attempts at close-up macro. I don't have a macro lens, so I have had to hold the lenses I have facing the wrong way in order to get the required magnification. They are still a bit blurry, some fading and not perfectly in focus, but I am slowly getting better at it.

Looks like mine, with a light smattering of random dust particles here and there. Makes you wonder how some people managed to macro-photograph things with not a single dust atom in sight!

It's lens stacking/reverse mount macro. If you keep your lens clean and have a slightly longer exposure, you can avoid most dust.

Those lenses*, plural. The front one is attached facing the wrong way in front of the first lens to achieve more magnification,just as nubbinator said.

Okay, I gave this a try myself. In a quick 1 minute photo shoot, here's what I came up with. I had these at full aperture (so depth of field is basically zero, haha), where was yours at? I don't have a way to mount this mess on a tripod, I'm just holding the second lens with my other hand, so it's hard to get longer exposures. Also, I do have a macro lens, so this wasn't a matter of necessity, but rather for fun. And holy crap, this magnifies wayyy more than the macro, so I'm glad I gave it a try. xD

Anyway, here they are. Yes, they're not very good. I just wanted to post them as my first attempts.

Magnification is focal length of first lens divided by the second. A If you have a 300mm tele-lens and attach a 10mm wide angle, you get 30:1. Most macros only reach 1:1. You have to shoot at full aperture. Decreasing it will not affect DOF, but rather just clip the image further. Focusing the first lens also affects clipping, so you need to focus using the second lens. In order to increase the DOF, you need to perform focus stacking. I have managed to decrease the amount of clipping. Below are some images of my mouse-mat and the 35mm stereo connector (TRRS) of my Ergodox.

The high magnification achieved this way isn't suitable for man-made objects though. They lack detail at this level. 1:1 macros are enough to capture them quite well. Organic objects have an infinite level of detail in comparison. The image below is 1:1 for instance.

I decided to mess around a little with lens stacking a little as well. Truth be told, I totally forgot about it until this thread. I messed around with some Triumph Adler and Alps dyesubs and doubleshots and my tactile Green Alps. Since I'm importing them on my laptop, I have no clue how good or crappy they are since they're full size and unedited.

I finally got the Diatec ABS doubleshots in the mail!

I wish they came in a clamshell case so I could put the old keycaps in it. After carefully lining all the old yellow caps on the tray, they ended up just spilling all over when I put it back in the plastic. Oops.

Quick comparison between the stock yellow and the doubleshots.

On their own, they don't look big, but when you look at them at this angle side by side, they are REALLY really big.

All installed! Keeping some of my old cylindrical OEM profile caps though, because I enjoy looking at them very much.

I know! I'm so torn... I'm thinking I'll get another fullsize KB (perhaps the filco multicam?) to put these on.
But that will be in the distant future.
