Roccat Kova+ or DeathAdder 2013
« on: Sat, 01 June 2013, 05:20:32 »
Hello guys. I currently have a SteelSeries Kinzu v2 Pro but it's failing as the other 2 kinzu's I had. I made a promise myself not to buy Steelseries anymore, they products break 4 f*cking months after buying them. (No, I do not have warranty and don't ask).

The shape of the Kinzu is perfect for me, I probably think that as it's the only mouse I've ever used (Had 3 of them). But now I'm looking for another one to buy.

I have this two choices and I don't know what to choose.

Razer DeathAdder 2013
Roccat Kova
[Well, I can get the Sensei RAW too but after 3 broken mouse I don't trust SteelSeries anymore.]

The DeathAdder seems to be technically better than the Kova+ but the shape and size of the mouse is what scares me. I'm used to the Kinzu which is small and ambidiextrous (I use Claw Grip) and I think the DeathAdder will be too unconfortable for me. Also, the Higher IPS seems to be better for me as I'm usually doing quick swipes in the mousepad.

The shape of the Kova+ seems to be quite similar to the Kinzu, so is the size. That would be good. But it seems it's worse than the DA. It has a lower IPS and Acceleration.

Kova+: 130IPS / 30G Acceleration / 3200dpi
DA: 200IPS /50G Acceleration / 6400dpi

I get both at the same price.

I don't really care about the DPI's as I will mostly use the mouse with 400 or 800 dpi (I play Counter-Strike with low sensitivity).
Oh by the way, I'm using a SteelSeries QCK+ LE SK-Gaming Edition.

What mouse should I choose?

I would get the DA 2013 hands down, although while I don't have any personal experience with Roccat I wouldn't really trust one of their mice. The DA is a very trustworthy mouse, and it can be used with a claw-like grip(there's a youtube video on it in case you need a demonstration).
Although dependability doesn't matter much if it's not comfortable, so I would suggest getting some hands-on experience before buying if possible.

I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss the Sensei either, but as you're on cloth it's probably better going for optical, however; the Sensei is what I would say is a safe middle ground. It's got a shape you'll probably like more than the DA, and I would say it's more reliable than the Roccat even if you've had some bad experiences with the Kinzu(do keep in mind that the Kinzu is probably the cheapest SS mouse as well).

I'd also get the DA as well.

It would be a good idea to go to a store and try both mice (at least hold them) for yourself.

For me, the Kinzu also has the best shape, and I now also have a Sensei. It wasn't too hard to adjust to the shape since it's basically (to me at least) a slightly bigger Kinzu with better tracking. Yes, the tracking is imperfect on the Sensei (inherent as it has a laser sensor), but during gaming I actually don't notice the very slight acceleration. My only problem with it is the lift-off distance, but I guess the surface factors into this as well.

Edit: Oh and I play with low sens (can be 30cm/360º to 60cm/360º... since some games don't let me lower the sens far enough ;))

How is lift off distance a problem? You can adjust it to your liking in the SS Engine software, and if you don't like the software you can use it once to set up the mouse and then uninstall, since it has onboard memory.

I would say to go with a Zowie instead. The DA 2013 is one of the better products Razer has out right now, but a Zowie FK is pretty legit. The tracking is wonderful, the mouse can be used either left or right handed and it's big enough to just fit in your hand comfortably, yet small enough to maneuver around. I've been told to think of it as a Microsoft Intellimouse, the Second Coming.

then again, this is just my opinion and I do not own either of the mice (I do own a Deathadder 3.5G), I am just going by what I've heard and read.

I heard the Razer DA 2013 is very very nice so I would go with that. But see what shape you think you would like best or try it in a store. IDK about Roccat but most Best Buys/Microcenters have the new DA

Do all Zowie mice use Huano switches? Because I hate how stiff these switches are, but I'm intrigued by the shape of some Zowie mice.

I was searching for a good mouse around here for a while. Almost everyone here recommended me a DA 2013 or Logitech G400. I now use my old G9 with a smaller gritty grip.

I consider Razer mice too gamey and using them only for internet and casual gaming is not worth the money. And I HATE Logitech (really man, I freakin' hate them). So no DA or G400 for me :D

Zowie looks good, especially Mico. Do other Zowie mouse use some kind of software? Do they have onboard memory to store the settings?

MiCO is just plug'n'play (and so are AM&FK IIRC). (BTW I'll be probably selling mine (barely used), so PM me if interested.)

Mico is smaller than my G9 with gritty grip and I need something for palm grip. Specifically I use hybrid palm grip in the back but sometimes i go with claw grip in the front. But I alwasy rest my palm on the mouse.

tomi shoudl probably know, that Mico is quite a small mouse.

I know you said you don't like Razer, but with the grip you've described I would highly recommend looking at the DA and the Lachesis as they are both perfect for that kind of grip. If you really don't want Razer, try finding a MS IME 3.0.

I would buy DA, there is no wrong in this mouse. But I would not use it to the max since I no longer play PC games. And for internet browsing and some Terraria it's a waste of money.

All I want is comfy and good quality mouse just for work. But since I have my almost 5 year old G9 I will probably stick with her than to buy another expensive mouse.

But according to this thread, I strongly recommend the Deathadder. Even when I didn't ever see one. But my research says, that man should spend a little and buy the 2013 version, since it should be better build than Black version.

For me the biggest factor in a mouse is the amount of buttons, there cannot be ambidextrous thumb buttons, when I looked into kova I was stopped by the very fact. DA in the other hand was too damn big. Zowie EC is a really great mouse.

I don't know. For that price I wouldn't risk it. I would rather buy something with certain renomé. Like razer's or G400. But that's not my problem, I have a G9 :D

My brother has the Roccat Kone+ and it's a great mouse, very comfortable to use. Also, part of the reason not many people in the US have a lot of experience with Roccat products is because up until this past year they've only been available in Europe. I don't have any experience with the Kova, but I'm sure it's just as good as the Kone!

Just my 2 cents...

I have a deathadder 2013 and I must say it's the best mouse I ever had.

As for the shape, I use it with a claw grip and it is very comfortable to use, but my hands are not small. This mouse can also be used with the palm grip, but it probably depends on the size of you hand.

Yet from my experience with this mouse, I must say that it seems to fit quite many type of grip and hands size.

And the sensor of the mouse is super accurate and the grip is super nice.

I would be getting DA 2013, works better with your mousepad too.
