Greetings!
« on: Wed, 12 June 2013, 11:44:48 »
Hello there everybody!
I'm new as a member here, but I've been browsing the forums for a while as a guest. I have a large collection of old computers and computer parts, where most of the parts comes from a "mistake" when bidding on an online auction. The seller had stated that I was bidding on "a few boxes" of old parts but when I got there to pick up all the things, new boxes turned up all the time and I ended up filling both the car and a large trailer.

Keyboardwise, this means that I now have a sweet mix of old and new keyboards, including about 50 Apple keyboards (both M0110:s, ADB models and new USB ones), 15 terminal IBM Model M:s with 122 keys, that I converted to USB using Soarer's converter, 2 Cherry MX keyboards, 2 old keyboards with Cherry copies, and about 20 other odd old keyboards (mostly rubber dome).

I prefer to work on a Model M, and for my main computer, I currently use a 2001 IBM-branded Unicomp 122, but I occasionally use my other standard Model M, that I've had since "forever". For mouse input, I use a Microsoft Trackball Optical, and I don't think I'll be switching back any time soon.

Nice going, would love to pick up a haul like that. If I ever find anything like that people around here want a fortune.

Thanks! My plan is not to keep collecting, though. I will keep at least five Model M:s, one or two Cherry keyboards, and assemble one complete computer each from the Apples, before I sell the rest.

Good luck! There's always stuff lying around somewhere, it just have to be found. Unfortunately, many things gets thrown away, as people don't appreciate the value on the older stuff.

Thanks! The M0110:s are not really that amazing. They sound pretty cool, but are a bit difficult to type on.

Hello, welcome to GH.

Not really that far up, but far enough to have sunlight during a summer night (two-three hours partial darkness). Technically, it's even closer to the geographical midpoint of Sweden, than to the northernmost point, but as most people consider Stockholm the midpoint, I wrote Northern Sweden. I used to live close to the arctic circle, and all I can say is that it's amazing in all sorts of ways.
