Strange IBM unsaver terminal keyboard on ebay

I know that these have been seen and discussed here, but I can't remember what the final verdict was.

Make an offer, I'm sure you can get it cheaper than list (I offered a lower amount and it was accepted, but I didn't really want it, even just to look at it)
Vendor Status: Sadly, not taking any orders/pre-orders at this time

I don't want it, I have way too many goofy keyboards already. The 2 switches shown look to be totally different types.

These are honeywell rubber domes. They also exist in a non data-entry layout.

Also, data entry layout is weird, like old cardpunches.

You can see the domes in the penultimate picture. But, despite that, all the "model F" type unsavers yet discovered have the raised section of the case go all the way across, instead of the step down on both sides as seen here.
Here's a good picture of both, illustrating the difference:

Here are some of the previous posts about this:

(kishy deleted many of his posts, but elrick has quoted him here)

And of course, kishy's page on them on his website
http://kishy.dyndns.org/?p=63

Should be an excellent rubberdome keyboard, if anyone is interested in acquiring another of those.

I guess this also means that you could move domes around for something closer to an ANSI layout.

The spacebar seems to have something off-center, but I can't figure it out in Kishy's photos.

I remember those!  They were good keyboards.  Can they be Soarered?

I like keyboards and case modding.  Everything about a computer should be silent -- except the KEYBOARD!

My rule of thumb is any time it has "Soft Touch" or "Quiet" as part of the description, it's a rubber dome and time to move on. Matias Quiet Touch keyboards excepted, I guess.

I haven't tried of course, but I would expect so.

Made a low-ball offer and it was accepted by the seller.  One will be in my hands in a week or so.

Pics and feedback at that time.

No, too big.  I'm going to look it over, power it up, and maybe drop in a Soarer.

Then it will go onto a display shelf, I think.

Excellent! These have been relisted a few times, so I'm sure low offers will be accepted. It's good to hear that that is the case. These should be really excellent rubberdomes.

Instead of a soarer, you can likely use the teensy to read the matrix directly, just a thought.
