Looking for a keyboard that would last the span of time. In a sense when I researched about the LZ-GH and KMAC 2, both of them are at the very least partially modular. Between the two are there any big discrepancies (function wise). Currently I have a Filco(browns) and a HHKB2 Pro, which I will most likely sell if there is a suitable replacement for them. Ideally I want a keyboard that can last more than 5 years, hopefully 10 or more (by lasting I mean most of it can be switched around and parts can be replaced if needed to). Sorry for this awkwardly typed out block of text, I just happen to think in really short phrases. :)  ^-^. Also I'm new here, and received my Filco today and am loving it  :p.

just because those two are Korean customs (and expensive) doesn't mean they have a proclivity to withstand the sands of time.

That being said, some of the older Model Ms will likely last forever and I would trust their longevity more than Cherry MX.

True but they are of a higher build quality than most mechanical keyboards and do look nice. I do have a few model m's laying around in the storage closet at home, but being the kid I am I want something a bit flashier for my own eyes. If anything I'm looking for one keyboard to rule them all and to showboat to myself, as well as the ability to fix it if it ever goes south.

There's no guarantee of a life of a keyboard. Doesn't matter if its a model M or a membrane keyboard. I think it really depends on how well you take care of it. MX cherry switches are easy to source and replace so finding the right parts shouldn't be too big of a problem if something does break though.

Biggest difference in function is that LZ keyboards have plates that allow for switches to be opened without desoldering. KMACs are a little easier to get since they are sold on some vendor websites. LZ's are strictly small "group buy" runs. I think KMAC's are a little more refined and complicated in the case designs where LZ's are more simple. But that doesn't mean one is better than the other. Just slightly different.
