Another 6 year celebration giveaway
« on: Fri, 23 August 2013, 10:18:56 »
this is probably gonna go very very very wrong

but i would like to do a giveaway, but instead of offering something of mine, i would like to offer to buy something that one of you wants, whilst at the same time helping out someone else

so here is the deal

please post below something you want and why, i would like you to keep your wants to something specific from the classifieds section, or a vendor that is based on geekhack (techkeys, keypop etc)

i wont post a limit on the value of the item you can ask for, but your chances will be better if you post something realistic

i figure this way someone will get something they actually want, and someone will get some money for something they dont want

the rules

1 entry per person
if you post something form the classifieds and it sells, you can have another entry
i will pick the winner, no random generators, i will pick solely based on the quality of the post, so my favorite wins
100 post minimum
the contest is open to people worldwide, but please check that the person selling the item will ship to you, i will of course be paying all shipping costs
this giveaway will end friday the 30th of august at 10pm gmt

thanks everyone

bunnybro

Well, if it's still available, I'd like Tsangan's LZ-MXSE. He's a cool guy (all mods/admins here are), and I would definitely like this board. It's fairly unique (how many common red-cased boards do you find?), it's got a novel layout (to me), and it's Korean (and we all know Korean boards are automatically awesome). If I had the cash, I would've bought the board quickly, but I don't and probably won't.

Also, I'm getting into RTS games, and this seems like the perfect layout for quick shortcuts.

I do have a second choice, but that's going to wait until I know I can't have the Red LZ-MXSE

Of all the things I could ask bunny santa for I would ask for a Teensy
I've always enjoyed playing around on computers and over the years noticed how crappy keyboards had gotten and didn't know there was really any other option. Once I found mechanical keyboards I was hooked. Now wild horses couldn't make me use membrane ughhhh
I want to make my own programmable keyboard and a Teensy is one of the few components I can't cannibalize from all these old boards.
I am scared of ordering one and getting a fake!

If I am chosen as the winner, or one of like 5 winners knowing you, I will dedicate a bunny image on my keyboard when I paint in in honor of your contribution :)

OK, let's try this.

I first joined GH after getting some serious pain in my hands. Lurking the ergonomics forum I discovered the TypeMatrix, which I bought and was quite happy with it.

However, lurking this place and the whole mechanical board universe, I felt 'sad' that my typematrix didn't allow me to have the amazing custom potential. So I decided to buy a Filco.

Changing key caps, however, was (is) not enough. I started reading the amazing threads on the GH60, the ergodox and others. Those are very inspiring threads. Seeing people trying hard to design and build new things and, after it, making it possible for idiots like me to have one is amazing. Not only that, due to personal reasons, making *me* wanting to do something that is not necessary is quite amazing :P

I decided to try modding my Filco out of its brown switches, as I think now they are too light. So I got Beast's switch opening tool (which arrived yesterday, it got here so fast!) and some soldering gear. I also got an ergodox kit for my birthday (as it is not possible to get a GH60 now) and I am really excited to build it.

Now I want to get the materials to start my modding purposes. I would like an originative 3S bundle as it makes it possible for me to swap the springs in blues for heavier ones and then adding them to my filco with the stickers :)

This, however is quite expensive, so I would be happy with just the springs :) (or one of those lovely key chains).

Order one from PJRC, and you won't get a counterfeit.

Hi Bunnylake :)

Ever since I joined GH and first tried cherry doubleshots I knew they were the best for me. I found originative's site and always wanted to order, but as a newbie located in northern europe it has always seemed impossible.

So what I'm asking for is a GMK white/grey doubleshot set with blue legends because they look awesome. I hope this was a reasonable request for this giveaway and thanks for hosting another awesome one :D

There's probably others out there more deserving than myself but on the off chance I'm chosen I'd love one of the iron man helmets from the cinnn group buy!
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

This is most excellent, Bunny!  Extremely generous, as always!  Thanks for adding more excitement to this forum :)

So with that said... I would like Mr. Bunny to don his Mr. Bunny Super 007 Spy Suit and sneak into Sifo's house to snatch his sky blue LZ, and forward it to me :D

Now if that cannot be done... I will be sad, and my only consolation will be a set of Mr. Bunny's "GET HYPER" caps from his alter-ego, Super Raver-Bunz :D

I hope those are entirely reasonable!

I would love to have Glissant's Ergo Dox: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=33128.0.

I have always look at  the Ero Dox for an ergonomic keyboard  and as a gaming pad (think orb-weaver) I have little experience in soldering so have never wanted to even consider it for that reason but his post does say it includes labor, that way I wouldn't mess anything up. Also I could then give my wife my WASD V1 with Blues since she is starting Pharmacy school now and will be doing a lot of papers and it kills me to see her use a laptop keyboard everyday.

So I would like to get a gift to give a gift to my wife (who's birthday is Sept 7th) :)

Thanks for the consideration.

How about a tkl carrying case: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=46167.msg972877#msg972877

He never listed a price though.  Maybe if you buy him a couple playboy mags?  He seems to have a thing for bunnies.

Oh I forgot to list why.  I usually spend a lot of time on campus waiting for traffic to die down instead of taking up to two hours for a drive that is normally ~25mins.  So I bring my kb and mouse with me to either play games or browse GH and stuff.

I don't really know if i f should enter or not because of all the things that you did for me that and i feel kinda ashamed to even dare ask anything more from you like a f*cking leech but i will i will just give it a try (you can always not pick me if you decide that i am too leechy anyway :D)

So what i want is a TKL board. Literally any TKL board i don't care about switches, backlight or w/e even if it is the cheapest one on the market it will still be super fine for me.

Why I want it from this giveaway? Well just because i don't think that i will manage to buy one myself in the near future and i'd really love to get a hold on something like this that i will cherish and will 1000000% mod as much as i can to make it something i would like to keep forever ahah.

Oh well good luck to all you guys and big shout out to the awesome Bunny. We love you man pls keep being yourself :P

Working with electronics at the physical level has always been an interest of mine, but I've never really had the means to do so. I've been wanting to do some more customization and modding with keyboards, but I don't have the tools. I've been looking at soldering stations, and all of the recommendations have been to get a Hakko 888D. It looks like a nice, solid unit with good reviews. I would like to put it to good use for my own learning purposes and maybe eventually community purposes (board assembly or repair) if I get good enough. The person that has the Hakko on the forums is: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=44635.0  L4yercake is the seller.

Well I hope you all appreciate Bunny's rare medical condition - if he stops helping people his heart will explode. I didn't think I wanted anything but....GirlDC Ghost (GhostBro) is like OMG, SO cute, I cant even handle it. He's all like WOOSH with his little arms and that smirk. And he glows when I give him some backlighting.

If he's gold plated, that means hes all sterling casted with some other metal swag and then gold on the outside. Ghostbro combines my love for metal and metalworking with this adorable little pose.

Woooosh!

Well, the only thing I would like more than a CC or Brobot is this green and clear Pure acrylic case.  http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=43416.0.  I have loved the look of acrylic cases ever since I joined here, and when I saw this pop up, it had my full attention.  I would have bought it, but I had just paid for the Miami set and my wife would have had me sleeping outside had I bought any more keyboard stuff.  This thing would go perfect with my white and green setup.
wut. i'd buy a ****ty IBM board for that green V2

Hi there,
I've just ordered a keycool 84 white with the help of the nice people of the community  :thumb: so I'm pretty happy.
However having a set of black blank keycaps for this keycool would make me super super duper extra mega happy.
Thanks for the giveaway!

First off, thanks for this bunny.  Yet another awesome thing sponsored and organized by you.

I'd have to say the only thing I really want is a GirlDC Ghostbro in silver or black.  Next closest is CCnG, but Ghostbro is so cute, just too expensive for my wallet :(  I love all the little things people are doing for the community, but I don't really have any real spending money right now because I'm unemployed.  Whatever little spending money I do have usually goes back to accumulating stuff for more experiments that I can share the results of with the community or small things that keep me sane while looking for work, like woodworking projects.

I... Don't...

I can't...

Holy ****, guys.
There's nothing I want? Specifically?

I'd love an opportunity to try a Topre board. It's something that I doubt I'll be able to afford, so a giveaway like this is probably the only chance I'd have at getting one. I know lots of people on the forums are in love with them, and it's piqued my interest. In a world where mechanical switches are king, a high class rubber dome has trumped them all, and I have to say I'm intrigued.
If one came up on the forums for a reasonable price, I couldn't express my gratitude enough if you picked it up for me, Bunny. I don't know what I'd do with myself.

I'm still pretty new to the Mech world, but since I've gotten here, I've seen more philanthropist acts than in any other community. The people here genuinely just want to share their favorite hobby, spending too much on keyboards, with the world. I've got two projects in my room right now, and no working mech keyboard. I think I've been inducted. I just hope it isn't too long before I'm in a place where I can give back!

The generosity here outweighs even that of the wetshaving forums.
And -that- is saying something!

I would really love to get either a nice set of caps for my Ducky Mini that is coming soon or a white/red/translucent clack to replace the escape on said keyboard.
To be honest I would be glad to get pretty much any cool cap since I have yet to replace any caps on my choc mini.
Waiting until I get the Ducky since I want to see how the LEDs will change the appearance of the caps :)

OK: Second Entry since first item was taken.

Corsair 800D modded for WaterCooling.

This would be a great case to have for my next build, which hopefully will be watercooled, and I need some more space to stick a longer graphics card it. My Antec 300 isn't cutting it, with only 9.5 inches of space for GPUs. Since I learned after I posted my first option that we're going to try to be reasonable, this is about as reasonable as I can get. I honestly can't find anything keyboard-related in the Classifieds that I want. Not a single SSK to be found.

I'd love for my Phantom plate to get here, but there isn't much you can do about that, Bunny.

I've never really "wanted" a specific key, or even a keyboard for that matter. I've always just thought "oh, that's really cool" and gone on with my day.

Now That I've gotten more involved with GH, and just keyboards in general, I've figured out what I want. I just want keyboards with weird (ANSI) layouts. 84-key? Love it. MiniLA? I use mine for everything. Don't even get me started on HHKBs. I love having people go "dude, why do you use something like that?" And then tell me how great their laptop keyboard is. I like odd layouts because they get a reaction from people. I've showed my friends pictures of a KBT Race, then they called me crazy for liking it.

I've been thinking about out while writing this post. I want a Leopold FC660M, and I want to mod the **** out of it. Ergo clears, PBT caps, new case, the lot. And I don't care how crazy people think I am for liking it. It's mine. I made it. You try making anything close to this cool. Then they'll tell me that's stupid, but I won't hear them because I'm in love with a woman named Leopold.

...that got weird at the end.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

All I want for Bunnymas is a couple of Cherry microswitches for my mouse project. Preferably the DG13B1AA but any DG****** will do. That and one sample each of the two new Matias/Alps switches.

The reason is simple, and also the reason why I joined GH to begin with.  That reason is to carry out projects and collaborations.

What would I like? Hmmm, I got my dreamboard with me now, and all I ever want is one of each special 3d cap. Not much, eh.

So, I'll take any gasmask or clack or brobot or girldc or any other special cap. Color or design is not really a worry as I just want to have a feel of each one of these artworks, I don't know if I'll be able to use these, maybe I'll just build a matrix board or numpad with each one of these.

I'd love Tek's Brass Key with just "M.G" on it.

Here is hoping Bunny sir likes my post.

Good luck every one, better luck meself. :P

So here's a long story.

Me and my girlfriend have been dating for almost 2 years now. I love her so much and I think shes the girl that I wanna marry someday.
I already caught his heart (obviously) though I would also like to have the hearts of all the people close to her. I gave her a quickfire rapid
for her graduation full with blings and nyans (she like cats). When I gave it to her she was with her cousin, and she was awed when she
touched the keyboard. Actually my girlfriend says that her cousin sometimes borrows it because she love the clickyness (MX Blue).

One day when we were strolling through the city, we picked up her cousin after class and she was wearing a PINK and LIGHT BLUE dress.
and she said it was her favorite dress. What I'm asking of you bunnylake, if I ever win this, is your MIAMI SET :) I would buy the keyboard for her, maybe like a quickfire too
and I'll paint the cover with sky blue ala sifo to match it.

I would really love to give her a keyboard too and her birthday would come this October. And thats one down of the people relatively close to my girlfriend.
Theres maybe 20 more of them. Hopefully not all will love such costly kerrberds :)

A kishsaver would be pretty cool, but since they're impossible to find, I'd be more than happy for a topre board or just some cool color Mx clacks.

If none of that is possible, some PCB mount cherry stabilizers, maybe some clear stems, 7x wire, a teensy and the stuff to do a Soarers mod for this FAT! Some cool BS caps would also be more than welcome

Hy everyone.
Well, i am a 15 years old from Slovenia, i really enjoy computers and stuff related to them. We just moved so my parent dont have a lot of money and for the last 2-3 years i had to buy all computer gear by myself, i am waiting for my every birthday so i get some money and i am able to upgrade some of my gear. But becouse i have to buy a lot of my clothes by myself too, i dont really have enough money to buy what i really like. In primary school i studied hard, becouse in our countrie the best students get 60 $ schoolarship, and i might be one of the lucky ones, i hope that will help me get what i like but most likly i will give a lot of money to my parents to help them pay the house. But i am not able to work during summer in slovenia becouse i am not old enough, so here is my request: you can buy me any blue or topre tkl keyboard you like, i would appreciate anything you would gift me, i dont care about the price, all i want is a new mechanical keyboard, atm i am using razer arctosa i bought from money i got for my b-day 2 years ago, so pretty much any keyboard would do, and this year i saved all money i could to buy a new mice. I would appreciate if you could make my wish come true and i trust your judgment so any keyboard you choose will do :) I have to tell this too, it is kinda off-topic but oh well... I really want to thank this awesome community for everything they give to us, new members. This is one of the most helpfull and most organised forums i seen in my life. I am really glad i am here and i am thankfull to all of you guys. And you bunny are one of the most generous people i had a chance to meet in my life. You are always helping other members and you have this awesome giveaways for other members that may not have a chance to afford their keyboards but becouse of you their wishes came true. When i think about people like you that makes me feel happy and it gives me hope that there are still good and friendly people all around us. I am sorry for being so long but i really wanted to tell this. Thanks for reading.

There's a serious drought going on.  There's one cure for this drought, and it's near impossible to come by.  That's right, Raindrop is the one thing that can quench my thirst for tasty blue keycaps.  As luck would have it, someone is willing to give theirs up if I win this contest.

Now, many of you may know how tall I am.  I'm very tall, for those that did not.  I get asked the question alot, "How's the weather up there?"  Well, let me tell you - it is not raining up here!  Oh, how I wish it were raining on my keyboard.  I continually reach to the skies, keyboard in hand, hoping for a single drop to bless my board.

This has proven unfruitful.  I took another approach, thinking perhaps I intimidated the heavens with my height.  I got on one knee and again I reached upward in hopes of receiving that sweet, sweet, rain.

Finally!  My pleas have been answered and my board has been blessed with a single drop of rain.  It's not raining in full force quite yet, but it's a good start.  I'm just hoping that more will come.  Every ocean starts with one drop of water, right?

I would be so happy to flood my board with some Raindrop beauty.

Bunny, you are awesome for doing this.  The one thing I would love to have would be either an 8u or a 10u space bar in the dark gray from the toxic set.  The best part is it wouldn't cost you anything.  All you have to do is convince danielucf to add either size to the group buy.  I would be willing to pay for one in each color.just to get the one.  But if I had to pick one it would be the dark gray in 10u size.

thanks for all the kind words and great entries guys, i really appreciate it, and its my pleasure to do this, i figured it would be something a little fun and a bit different

when i had set out to do this i pictured there being just 1 winner, that being said, one entry already sparked my interest, so there is already one winner, i wont announce it till the end though, please do not let this discourage people from further entries, although i have picked 1 winner so far, that doesnt mean i wont pick anymore

A competition for a free give-away of any item? Let's give it a try!

For the past few days I've been reading posts about people making their own keyboards (GH60, the Mini Guru and so on) which struck a question in my head - why hasn't anyone ever built a "DIY" Topre keyboard?

Further searching around on the Interwebz and even creating a post here on the forums to see if this was possible has given me lots of hope and courage to actually make one. Now I admit, I've never built nor owned a mechanical keyboard in my life but I do have the necessary knowledge to be able to build a fully programmable keyboard from scratch (will have a masters' degree in Electrical Engineering in 2 years) and I'm stubborn enough to make something happen if I really want it to!

Now here's the catch - I need stuff to make this happen, e.g. Topre switches, a capacitive PCB like the ones found in Topre keyboards, keycaps, casing etc. The idea is to build a 60% or a 65% keyboard with ISO layout. The capacitive PCB will be custom made at my school (which has the necessary instruments to make such PCBs), ordered from a company or built using the PCBs found in existing keyboards. Topre switches are very hard to acquire solely and will therefore be salvaged from an existing Topre keyboard and so will the key-caps be (until I find some others). The casing will be custom-built using laser-cut steel or any other metal in a similar way the guy who built the Mini Guru did.

Now for my request - I wish from the Santa bunny a Topre keyboard from which I can salvage the parts necessary, such as the HHKB Pro JP or any other that has an ISO layout (due to Topre key-caps (mainly the big ass Enter key) being hard to find and I specifically want to make an ISO layout).

As a last note, I know I can go for the HHKB Pro JP already since it is a 60% keyboard but unfortunately it doesn't have the layout I want/need. This project idea has grown enough on me to realize that I'll never want any other keyboard than this baby I'm about to build!

Hope I've succeeded in melting your heart with compassion for my future-baby!  :thumb:

Matching skull & blank key, for the ESC / FN on my HHKB. Especially MINT.

These are my "dream" keycaps, so to speak. The first and only I'll need. Fate has been cruel to me regarding these keycaps in general, LOL...

GOD BLESS.

I'm pretty content with everything I've got now. Only things I've been looking for is a decently priced MX Mr. Friday or a Birthday Model M. Only attainable thing I could think of that I want is a Korean Custom, simply because I don't own any Alu boards and if it were korean that'd make it 5x better :)

I've had my eye on the Grey Happy Hacking Professional 2 with blank caps since I've gotten into mechanical keyboards. It's just the most beautiful keyboard on the face of this earth- not even the prospect of a Filco Aluminum cases can tempt me away from one. :D

Thanks a ton Bunny, for doing this contest. It's an amazing show of generosity on your part

It feels really weird to ask for private sponsorship, but how can one resist such a generous offer?!

So here we go:

I really want to improve my typing skills. Although I can type the alphas pretty much blindly I struggle with the number row and all the symbols. So I figured the only way to improve is to go full blank mode and just force myself not to look at my keyboard.

I found this nice offer for a white ISO set and a matching cable:

http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=44747.0

(apparently he lowered the total cost to 32 GBP + shipping in the corresponding DT thread)

I think it would look awesome on my black Filco. Best thing is you’d help a fellow UK gentleman out and shipping to Germany wouldn't cost a fortune  :thumb:

Looking at the other posts though, I feel HoffmannMyster deserves to win - can't let a man die of thirst. I mean look at him: I can see the desperation in his eyes  ;)

It's the "red" LZ-GH, so more of a salmon color.  :P  The lighting in that picture really accentuates that pink-ish color too.

After taking the time to look through the classifieds and really think about it I decided on the -WYSE Double Shot keycap set/Moogle Kit (#31) in the inlikeflynn's sale thread. http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=44362.0

It took me a while to post my choice on here because I don't really like asking people to get me things. >.<

But I had to pay for classes out of pocket.. So I can't afford to buy it for myself. This set, CCnG (or CCnB), and RainDrop are the sets I've wanted the most over the time I've started using mechanical keyboards.

Show Image

This has proven unfruitful.  I took another approach, thinking perhaps I intimidated the heavens with my height.  I got on one knee and again I reached upward in hopes of receiving that sweet, sweet, rain.
Show Image

Finally!  My pleas have been answered and my board has been blessed with a single drop of rain.  It's not raining in full force quite yet, but it's a good start.  I'm just hoping that more will come.  Every ocean starts with one drop of water, right?

I would be so happy to flood my board with some Raindrop beauty.

so this man wins a nice shiny new raindrop set, including, base, mods and tsangan, as well as shipping, all is paid for and it is all on its way to you sir, being sent and purchased from inlikeflynn

Grats Hoffman! You gotta finish that picture series though. We want to see it rain!

And thanks again to Bunny for this generous contest. I really liked that you picked a total newcomer for second prize to encourage him to dive into the world of keyboads and keycaps.

Really nice way of welcoming newcomers, although you technically broke your own rules by picking someone below 100 posts ;)

I would be so happy to flood my board with some Raindrop beauty.

A few months ago I completed my last rain dance, and was awarded a wonderful Raindrop set thanks to bunnylake and inlikeflynn.  My follow-up post is long overdue.

I have since relocated, but my keyboard has been blessed with the liquidy goodness of Raindrop!  Finally the drought is over and my keyboard can drink up those sweet sweet keycaps.

Soooo goooood.....

Now let's get it on a keyboard!  I dribbled out a few keycaps at a time.  Didn't want to flood the board and overwhelm it.

Looking good so far.  Now I just need to pour in the modifiers.

Final product.  Mmmm, so tasty.  Who knew a good rain was all a keyboard needed to grow so pretty?

I've opted to put a personal touch in addition.  Meet Lumber-Chap, defender of the Rain.

That's all I've got!  Thank you so, so, so much to bunny and flynn for the generosity.  I really appreciate this, and I love the caps!  :D
