[ebay] AMTELCO UNIFIED Keyboard - monster vintage telephony unit
« on: Sat, 14 September 2013, 11:05:07 »
This is again one I find "interesting" rather than cheap as chips.  Seller sent me some pics with keycap removed, they look like Cherry double-shots, and probably vintage MX Black switches.

Shipping is a killer for US buyers, or I'd have already bought it.   :p  Might be a good desoldering project for a Canadian buyer, or even possibly a project platform to make easily the most intimidating work keyboard I've seen recently!

I'm really tempted, but mostly for the unique legends.  I need a keyboard with HOLD & PARK, SEND DGTS, and TAKE MSG keys!  Anyone want to go in halfsies on this one?  I'll buy the keycaps, you keep the switches?

Anyway, fun to think of the possibilities.   ;D

great looking keyboard, but it is a great shame they didn't get official keys made for 'out to lunch' and 'gone for the day'

Man, that's a lot of black switches for cheap. Too bad I missed that one.

1500 MX blacks for 99c. Mental.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

What I want to know is, WHO IS HOARDING ALL THOSE KEYCAPS?!

Yeah, $40 shipping to CONUS is a real deal-killer for me.  Anyone in Ontario willing to pick up in person and send along just the keycaps?

A cool keyboard, in Ontario?

I sent a message asking how much to ship to me in northern Ontario.

If its under $20 I'm going to probably try and win this for my collection :)

God knows how the seller must feel, especially as they were going for $600 BIN. :D

Can I help defray your costs, in return for some keycaps?   ;D

If I can get it working on a normal PC, I'd prefer to keep it in one piece.

Otherwise, yea I don't need the caps if I dismantle it.

No worries, I completely empathize with keeping a stock unit intact.  (Same reason I'm so ambivalent about the Dolch PAC I bought, it's so nice as-is, I don't want to tear it apart...)

I googled the model when I was looking for info on Amtelco, it looks like the same seller has sold the same keyboard(s?) before, you might ask if he has any others tucked away.  Keep me in mind if you do decide to part it out, those caps are pretty neat!
