OSX drivers for LBOTS and Flashget mechanical keyboards?
« on: Sun, 06 October 2013, 04:56:28 »
Just got back from China, where I treated myself with a couple of fancy tenkeyless mechanical keyboards:
- LBOTS The Mechanic (Backlit)
- FlashGet G600 (see review at http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=47262.0)

Although they get automatically detected and work fine in Windows, I'm unable to get them working in Mac OSX with a completely bezerk mapping (even the ENTER and Backspace keys are not working, showing some characters instead).

Can any one please either point  to a link where I could download a driver for my Mac (they appear to behave very similarly, so I expect them to use the same driver) or upload it here (I'm a noob here, not sure if it' s allowed)?

Thank you very much in advance,

Calagan

Can you install the utility on a Windows box, configure the keyboard, then try on the Mac?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

It's both the same keyboard really so no surprise they do the same thing. I think you may be out of luck if it uses the multiple keyboard method for achieving greater than 6KRO Macs don't like it. I guess it's the case if they are working fine in Windows, it's not a hardware problem in the keyboard.

Well, the LBOTS is backlit, not the Flashget

I think you may be out of luck...

What keeps me hoping is that BangGood site says the FlashGet is compatible with Mac. I however didn't my keyboard from them and neither did I get the Utility CD nor the spare keycaps.

I'm shamelessly bumping this thread, because I have yet to get my LBOTS The Mechanic and FlashGet G600 keyboards to work with OSX, which is a crying shame.

I do however see more and more sellers offering the FlashGet G600 and all of them advertising it as Mac OSX compatible.

Is there anyone around this forum who could confirm whether or not the mysterious CD shipped with the G600 (which I unfortunately didn't get) actually contains OSX drivers?

Thank you very much in advance.

Here's my yearly bump; still no solution found.

Someone had the rather fancy suggestion of connecting them behind piggy-backed USB->PS/2 adapter and a PS/2->USB adapter, but no luck.

I also found that they work great on non-windows devices like a Rasperry Pi or a Samsung S5 with an OTG adapter.
