Odd Problem With PS2/USB Adapter.
« on: Sun, 06 October 2013, 12:51:29 »
Hi All, I'm having a bit of a problem with my Dell Quiet Key keyboard.  I recently built a new computer that lacks a PS2 port on the motherboard, I purchased a 7.99 adapter from NewEgg so I could still use it occasionally.  At the moment, I'm in between keyboards so it's the only thing I can use right now.  I've noticed some odd behavior with it when playing games, when holding down "W" to move forward in games, the key seems to occasionally go dead and cause movement to just stop.  Obviously, this is pretty frustrating in games like counter strike where constant movement is pretty much essential for most scenarios. My assumption is that there is some sort of delay or interference with the adapter, because this never happened with my old PC where I could plug the keyboard directly into the motherboard.  I was just wondering if anyone here knows of any solution that I might be able to apply here, I could always just swap out a USB connected keyboard for gaming, but just wanted to check here before I went that route.

Which adapter? Most of them are crap :( Sounds like you've got one that drops its connection occasionally, and you notice 'W' more because you hold that key down for longer periods. With normal typing, the same issue results in perhaps a few characters not being typed.

It's some cheap Rosewill from NewEgg, I figured that was the problem :(  Not a huge deal really, just disappointing that they don't work too well.  Thank you so much for the response! :)
