Looking for cheapish keyboards with brown switches
« on: Mon, 07 October 2013, 18:12:48 »
Howdy folks. New in town. Personally, I've had Das keyboards for quite a long time and am quite satisfied with them. However, a friend of mine is currently in the market for a new keyboard and wants one that isn't quite as loud as blue key switches. For example, he doesn't want a keyboard as loud as the Das.

I was wondering if there are any decent mechanical keyboards in the $100 range (less is better) with brown switches (or something equivalently not-oppressively-noisy) that people can recommend? Not looking for best-of-the-bunch top of the line sort of keyboards. Just a relatively cheap, entry-level mechanical keyboard with brown switches or something else that doesn't sound like a roaring fighter jet. :)

Any suggestions?

Ducky (with backlighting) or QRF (no backlighting).

How about a Noppoo Choc Mini?  First gen, but comes with Billiards cap set.  I'll even put 50a o-rings on the caps.  $75 shipped US.

For full size boards:

Logitech G710+
CoolerMaster Quickfire Pro

For Tenkeyless (also known as TKL, no numpad):

CoolerMaster Quickfire Rapid
Ducky Zero S

I can get all of these for around 100€ here in Finland, but I am not sure how much they cost there. I am sure others will post some more option.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

I'd suggest the "Cherry MX-Board 3.0" with Brown Switches, I think this is a very "cheap" way to get a mechanical keyboard.
Here in Germany these are sold for around 55€, I guess he'll be satisfied with that as this comes from Cherry itself. :)

The CM Storm QuickFire Rapid would probably be the best choice. Amazon and Newegg had them for $65 last weekend. On Amazon it's back up to $75, but that's still a good price for an excellent board.

You just have to have 60 posts to sell in classifieds is my understanding.

Buying and group buys are wide open.

Specifically you need 60 posts to start a new thread.

Nothing stopping someone from participating in an existing thread.
