[GB] Official KOBO top cover for Filco cases (Closed)
« on: Fri, 15 November 2013, 07:39:11 »
GB is now closed. No longer take any more orders. Many thanks

UPDATE:  :( At the last min, they say they ran out of stock, the only 1 housing I manage to get hold is the Carbon Red

When googling around, I bumped into this Vietnamese keyboard distributor (http://www.01.net.vn/frames#page-title) which sell these  colorful official top cases for Filco keyboard. Available for full and 87 key size. Very tempting for the price, if you are interested, I have a friend who could bring 5 cases to Sydney next month.

ONLY 104 Midori style and 87 Carbon Red are confirmed in stock! - Other colors availability, please PM me

DEADLINE: 7th Dec 2013
PRICE: $75AUD  + shipping from Sydney CBD - Payment to be made to joneslee85@gmail as GIFT please

Only 5 slots are available, PM me if you are keen

1. Beauthegamer (1x Red Wood) - Refund issued and pending
2. AKmalamute (1 x Stone Red) - Refund issued and pending
3. Pauldash (1 x Carbon Red) - Shipped

NOTE: Theses cases are not 3rd party or after-market, they are official Filco products, the original Japanese site can be found here http://www.diatec.co.jp/shop/kobo/

Below are some pics, more are available on this site http://www.01.net.vn/frames#page-title

I'd be interested, how much?
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

I remember seeing them on Taobao.  I almost bought that red carbon fiber one.  I haven't seen the grass one before though.  Pretty cool if you are into that kind of decor.

I have a friend from Ho Chi Minh city who will visit me next month, she could carry with her at least 5 cases, please let me know if you want to order too, you only pay the product (~75AUD) and the shipping fee from Sydney to your location.

Hrmmm that's a bit steep, if I'm paying that kind of cash I'm probably better spending a little more for an alu case.

phantom compatible it looks like?

I've been considering a phantom project, as much just for the project as to sell in the classifieds once it's working properly. These look like they'd be a nice addition to that project.

Are those the only options or are there more? Diatec sells these and more here: http://www.diatec.co.jp/shop/kobo/. I am mainly curious if the Vietnamese distributor has the TKL wood red cases for sale. If so I would be in for one.

Also, are they selling the full case or just the top?

They should be phantom compatible since I believe they are just regular Filco cases that are painted/wrapped and the phantom was designed to work with Filco cases.

Timing is all wrong, man < /crying>
I would like to get one but I think I have to hold off on new keyboard projects until after the first of the year. I'm going to check back here though, until I know for sure that's the case or your five slots are filled up.

I'm guessing you're not a place where you could do layaway? ;-)

Are all of the cases from the site I linked available (http://www.diatec.co.jp/shop/kobo/), or are the only cases available the ones you posted pictures of in the OP? And just to clarify, when you say they are full case, you mean the top and bottom of the case and not full size (104 key), right?

Can you link the site that you will be ordering from?

the real question is do they have a plate ... I'm guessing not, which can work either way but if I, for instance, were to start a project based on this case, I'd need to decide on holding off on the build until I got a plate -- or or just buy PCB switches ;)

Edit: it appears the site he'd linked to, presumably would be directing his friend to buy from, is this one

I updated my first post with link.

There are more styles available both in 104key and 87key size. All are full top and bottom plate

Looks like the dark metallic is sold out. I'm not fluent in Japanese  :))
Could you let me know if it's possible to order that "dark metallic" case.
I might be interested. [though I'm downsizing soon.]

I'd love one or two of those, except I don't have a Filco.

Or money.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Yeah but think of all the shipping you'll both save, since you're in the same continent, at least.

Filco was my first mechanical board. <3 Just got it a couple weeks ago and I'm going hundreds on these cases/keys.
I've instantly got a problem.
A really, really, awesome shopping problem.

Edit: probably gonna have to pass cause I want so many other things right now.
My birthday is dec 15 so if I get a cheque in the mail from some family I might try and jump on this before the 10/12/13 deadline.

Keyboardco sells some of these, but it says that they will not sell you just the top cover. You can only purchase one if you are buying a Filco from them, and they put it on for you.

so, you're using the international system of dd/mm/yyyy ? Otherwise I'm really confused because October twelfth has come and gone.

My interest is increasing ... I'm actually gonna try and flip the case (as a working keyboard) and see if I can't make enough to cover some other purchase here.

So, is 10th of Dec. the last day to pay you, or the last day to say yes I want one ... and sending money on the eleventh or something could still be made to work? (Stone Red is my choice, in 87key, if you're interested at this time)

So .... I don't suppose you know who the resident 'vintage blacks' fan is? That'll be the switch going into the board going into the case ... if all goes according to plan.

I used Australia date convention,

the deadline for paying order is 10th Dec, payment could be cleared 3 days after (it's PayPal).

I'd like a to get my hands on a normal black top cover, for custom mods like for the QFR. But I see it's still around €95 (130$) on the diatec site which seems ultra ridiculous for a piece of plastic. That can't be right, can it?

You can also order directly at Diatec. I did that for a white fiber Filco (case with keyboard). Use Google Translate on their Japanese site and find the product number you are looking for. Then mail sales for a quote including shipping. You'll need to wire the money. They ship to Europe.
