I had to make 8 posts. 8. I think that probably all but 1 of those were 100% not **** posts.

You poor poor soul. Being forced to post. The cruel world we live in.

But I can see how some people don't like it as well, because if making a few posts to make the limit makes me ineligible, then I'd feel like I'm 100% NOT a part of the community and that I'm being shunned for trying to get involved. It's a rough double-edged sword I guess.

So by not meeting a tiny post limit, for one sale, you feel shunned by a whole community? Minimum post counts, karama counts or account creation date restrictions are standard on all kinds of forum/subreddit community participation events. The first simple reason is so that people cannot game the system. e.g. being able to have multiple reddit accounts for each bro sale to increase your chances of winning. Do you realise how it makes you look like someones alt account if you spam crap all over the forum inside of 17 hours?

Now when you meet the requirements for the next sale, you will probably have a better chance of winning something! And most of all, the people winning the caps will be community members like us and not some recluse who never posts. Meaning more cool keyboard pictures and discussions.

Just because it's not 'fair' for this one sale (and one sale only), don't try and call out a whole forum for 'shunning you'. Fair for the masses doesn't mean fair for every individual at every moment in time. A lot of people here try REALLY hard to keep a positive and friendly vibe going, but it's hard when this kind of childish entitlement is thrown around. So..Chill out, post at a comfortable normal pace, check your watched threads once a day and soon you will be hooked for real  :thumb:  When the next sale comes around you will not even be thinking about post counts and you will be thankful that other people in the raffle are not lowering your chances by gaming the system.

(PS alt accounts are banned by GH rules and bro DID specify ****posts will not be counted when he made this modification to his rules)

Not that I disagree with most of what you say but I do find it interesting that you express posting as the way to be part of the community.  That recluse you exclude from being 'a real member of the community' may read it every day, learn a lot, and rely on search functions to answer their questions.  How is this any different than the vast majority of folks on non-electronic communities that aren't vocal or leaders or even comfortable being noticed -- the once coined silent majority.

I also think that you carelessly use the term recluse.  There are a great many folks in this world of ours that find it exceedingly difficult to 'put themselves out there'.  Many just aren't comfortable posting. Obviously I'm not one of them :-)

Finally, in way of clarification and caveat, if Brocap want to choose this way to ensure that his product gets to those he wishes to have them he most certainly has that right.  Further, if he uses his artistry to encourage discussion in a community he himself is invested in that's not only permissible but praiseworthy.

Well that's my 2p.

I get your points and they make sense. I just don't see it that way.

Sorry if I offend people with my terminology or descriptions, but, GH is one of the most mature and pleasant forums I've read. If this isn't an Internet safe space I don't know what is.

Anyway, I'm cranky. GL to everyone in the sale, especially if it's your first heavy therapy begins shortly.

Man, is Bro ever gonna put those MX Gamer sets up for sale :( I've been so hyped for them since August and there's been very little word about them.

Well it started at like 11 or so, with some issues still going on. So i guess it would be safe to say that "24 hours" will be up within the hour. Or possibly an hour or two if you want to give a bit of room for the errors.

Not sure what's up with the timer.

maybe they gave us extra time because the site wasn't working properly when the sale started

alternatively, maybe it says we still have extra time because the site still isn't working properly  :))

Having counseled people in many different arenas I just wanted to bring a voice to some who might not otherwise have it.  I'm also feeling a bit cranky as I felt like I've stepped on it with an innocent jest.  I hope GH is as pleasant and mature as you say.  My first few days in it haven't been totally reflective of that.  Though many/most of the threads I've been part of have.  Guess I just don't like being singled out as a spammer when I'm not.

the sale time had to be extended slightly for those that noticed

for a ton of reasons but here are some of them

the end of the sale is a fair amount of work for me, the original time had it ending very early in the morning for me, either when i would be asleep or getting the baby up

we are still adding in some back end functionality in the site, so now, when and if you get a winners confirmation email, there will be a link to pay via paypal, so i no longer have to invoice, we still had some work to do on this, we also still had to set up things such as the winner emails etc, so you actually know if you have won

because of both the number of parts in this sale, and the fact i cant sting 5 minutes together with the baby, i will be doing notifications for this sale in waves, most likely over a 12 - 24 hour period, and i needed a good start time so i could get the bulk of it done, be there to help my wife over the nighttime period with the baby, and then finish in the morning

this sale wont be ideal, but im doing the best i can, sit tight, itll be worth it

Huh. Yeah. Be open, share your ideas, post a lot.
"Oh, you posted some simple thoughts that weren't meant to be rude or mean or anything? Let's twist the **** out of it and belittle you! But it's not hard to post more!"

Who the hell wouldn't be disappointed (even a little bit) about not getting one of these? They're awesome. Even if you had 50,000 posts.

I'm not complaining about having to meet the requirement. I understand it and was simply playing devil's advocate.

Funny how no one quoted the last part of my post...

This is why it can be hard to post here.

But alas, I've been trying. And I'm sorry if I sound entitled because I don't mean to be at all. Just like I don't mean to be rude at all or rustle any jimmies. Funnily enough I wrote a paper about the inability to show true meaning or intention through modern communication (text, like emails and posts).

I'll lastly just reiterate that the main thing that matters here is that everyone loves mechs and that's great.

Also, that BunnyLake is a champ and nearing a god-like status if not already a god. Same to Bro!

Huh.

Funny how NOT ONE OF YOU quoted the last part of my post...

This is why it can be hard to post here.

Yeah, I tweaked my post after reading it - it was a bit harsh. I had just woken up. Hahaha

I understand and agree.

And find it hilarious that we both made references to jimmies. Hahahaha that's awesome!

I'd imagine they're still coming (even if only in a limited release), but I definitely feel like there were QC issues with the material that needed to be sorted out beforehand. Several of the Topre Easter sets showed discoloration after months of use, so your standard novelty artisan material might not be well-suited for long-term exposure to finger oils and what not. IIRC Clack had a similar problem, so it's just something that may be a good idea in theory, but in execution quite difficult to achieve real quality long-term at a reasonable cost.

I didn't think about that! Those are good points to keep in mind, but hopefully someone masters the material recipe! I'd sure love a set that I could use everyday! :thumb:

Thanks for the update Bunny!

Thanks for putting so much work, especially since you're busy with the baby.

haha yeah

i promised my wife ill be busy today, then all i have to do for the next week is pack jtk orders and i can do that whilst we are all sat together and stuff
Enjoy the sitting, man.  The first 6-8 weeks are cake.  After that is when the baby starts to randomly demand food, a change, or entertainment.  Sleep when the baby sleeps, friend.  It's a helluva ride.. :D

I just found this on r/mk....

"I have a GH account that's not connected to this subreddit in any way(name, keyboard list, etc.) with enough posts to join the Monster Mash sale. I'm willing to part with it for a fully assembled and working "60% or 65% + left numpad" ANSI layout keyboard in light tactile(non-clicky) switches like MX Browns, Purple Zealios, Matias Quiet Click etc.

I'm serious. PM me a picture of the board with a timestamp if you're interested."

Lol. I hope nobody is stupid enough to do that. Even if you got into the raffle there is absolutely no guarantee you win. Can't imagine giving up a keyboard for essentially nothing. Time to find out who it is.

First public instance of someone GH account selling, will be interesting to see what kind of response he draws. Nothing new with the concept though, people have been selling accounts that granted certain privileges/statuses/appearances/whatever since I started my internets career on the MSN gaming zone in like 96 or 97.

Well he has announced it only an hour ago. If you want to participate in the current sale there isn't time to write 50 meaningful posts.  Even if you could, the post count is locked right now.  I'd say he's looking for people who really want in on the sale but were too late... Doesn't seem like it's too successful though, downvoted and ridiculed already.
