Now when you say the item will be shipped anywhere in the world, do you mean to the highest bidder or literally to a random address somewhere in the world?

HAHA! Now that's an unexpected interpretation. I think he meant it would be shipped to the winner of the auction regardless of his/her location in the world... right kawa?

revenge red is kind of canonical clack red. it's very dark. EK red and F2 are more saturated. i don't know how rare it is, but i do know that it's my favorite clack red against a beige case; eg, the model M SSK and standard cases.

And they are both above that now anyway.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

So GH wins anyway - it is a charity auction after all.

I waited by computer for the bidding to start with an hour left, and this ******* snipes an auction that's supposed to raise money for the site, what a clown

So GH wins anyway - it is a charity auction after all.

Well if geekhack wins let me and jones bid each other out, I'll start at $130

While I appreciate your pm, this situation has left a bad taste in my mouth with geekhack , thank you for the folks I have traded with and purchased from. This was never an auction, and the fact that this bid was allowed with 5 seconds left is absurd and killed any idea of what an auction is all about. Farewell geekhack. Jimmies officially have been rustled

I don't mean to be harsh, but see thread title. It was an auction.

Hey no offense man just putting in my 2 cents about auctions. Even if its right or wrong. Think of ebay, Anyone can bid all the way till the last second, thats why you always put your maximum bid; not a bid to get a deal. If it means you will pay more oh well it goes to charity, always put your maximum youre willing to pay.   :thumb:

I understand that Dustin, but ebay is filled with dishonest people looking out for themselves trying to get something at lowest price.  I didn't think geekhack was like ebay The proceeds were being donated to geekhack so I figured we would all be mature enough to have fun and do something good for the site, I had the highest bid so I couldn't very much outbid myself.

if you look at the last auction, you'll see that joneslee is far from an opportunist. if i had two to give out, i would definitely give you one, but unfortunately only one gumrot was donated. i'm sorry you were outbid, but i have to make the rules clear and hard for a reason --- there can't be any question of who gets the auction prize for their donation.

i hope that once you calm down you can see that this won't be your only chance ever to receive a gumrot, and rejoin the community.

Holy ****ing **** how stupid are you? All for the betterment of our community until someone offers to give us more money? Every point you've made only shows selfishness and every further post you make further shows how immature you are. (ROFL and you go on to say that sniping in a TIME CONSTRAINED AUCTION, which you don't seem to understand, is immature.)

Stop attacking other community members who are trying to make things better when you're obviously here just to get yourself a clack. Pathetic.

Honestly, when you see no action going on near the end of a time restricted auction it's fairly obvious that there will be some sniping attempts. Hell even if there are bids you can count on it. And if you were so ready and willing to give more money to GH out of the kindness of your heart you most certainly could have outbid yourself. And let's be honest here, charity auction or not, these are clacks. Bottom line is you're complaining about losing at an auction meant for charity. Not a good look. Especially considering you're the only one who seems to have a problem with what transpired here and you continue to dig yourself deeper. I can't believe how quickly some people self destruct on this forum for such petty things. Just brush it off man. Have some fun here. It's not too late.

This is a celebratory occasion guys, let's not attack this barely here 4 weeks, still wet behind the ears pup of a member.  Instead, I propose that we should laud and heap praise upon him.

Why?  He's turned geekhack into a news organization.  I haven't heard any stories on CNN, Fox, BBC, MSNBC, Huffington Post, the New York Times or any respected organization, but apparently, HipsterPunks's money is more valuable for charity than someone offering a higher denomination in the same currency!

I congratulate you, sir!  Thank you for coming to geekhack and gracing us with your worth more than the stated value donation offer.  I'm sorry that there was a misunderstanding with the uninformed masses.

/sarc

Seriously?  Are you fundamentally broken?  How is performing a well known auction tactic (born well before the advent of even eBay) dishonest?  Is it because you lost?  Because you're so self-important that you could never lose "honestly"?

Or is it because you're being an impetuous child that this seems right to you?

You claim to have never attacked members, but there are numerous posts where you attacked one.  One, I might add, that just came off a truly noble act of donating money gained through the same means to starving and impoverished youth in Vietnam.  And he counts in everyone else's eyes even if he may not in your's for whatever trumped up, ignorant, reasons you have concocted in your mind.

I see that others are saying that you should step back, take a breath and come back with a fresh perspective and I'm going to disagree.  I think you should follow through.  Just take that step back and don't return.  We don't need more toxicity based around silly things like this.  Your sub-thirty posts won't be missed.

Punk.
