HHKB Serial Numbers
« on: Thu, 09 January 2014, 11:47:43 »
After seeing this HHKB with such a low serial number, I was curious as to what other people have.

Mine is 010686, made in 12/2012.

000581 - 2012-12.

Type-S -- possibly could go by a different batch number but my number is still pretty low!

They must have restarted for the Type-S, which came out much more recently.

They must be counting down to 0, so everyone quick buy HHKB Type-S before they're discontinued!

So far it doesn't seem like they make a lot of sense.. yours is 135000 Dustin? I figured they would just be ordered chronologically.

What about the revision number?

I'm actually surprised at how many numbers there are: Part, model, and rev.

It seems that Part no. -1381 is white Pro 2, -1382 is black Pro 2. Not sure about Rev.

Date seems to be part of the SN. They probably produce hundreds per month, or maybe quarters.

Hey, we're pretty close! The black HHKB is not mine, but I know the keycaps came from a Topre keyboard made for video editing.

I think most of us would be happy with any custom Topre keycaps!

My pro is labeled with 000090 REV.A0 2003-05.

IIRC, I saw someone posted picture of Type-S with serial no 2 or 3 of first batch on twitter.
Adn this type-S has 000007 :o Nice.

That's odd...my Type-S is made before osi's but the serial number is larger.

The only plausible reason is that they're actually counting down to something on the Type-S boards.

But what happens when we reach 0. ???

HHKB 3 confirmed? got any source? I found an old thread but they are not talking about HHKB 3 instead it is HHKB Pro JP. HHKB Pro JP is based off HHKB Pro design and not Pro2 therefore it lacks things like USB hub.
