New to geekhack
« on: Mon, 27 January 2014, 17:59:02 »
Love computer keyboards. I've been using a Realforce 87U and an SSK, I have two SSKs, one brand new. I want to sell my SSKs, I've become fully invested in Realforce and am getting another 55g 87U KB. How do I list an item for sale on geekhack. I'd rather make it available to you guys than post it on ebay.

Been through almost all the Cherry MX switches with the exception of the MX Clear switch--no joy from MX switches.

One other request: does anyone know where, apart from EK, to purchase Topre replacement key caps?

Great site--nicely done and informative

You need 60 posts to make a thread on classifieds. But you'll get way more money selling on ebay.

Hello, welcome to GH :)

Unfortunately you can only list your boards on the classified when you have 60 posts. Why would you want to sell those anyway? :P

If you mean novelty caps for topre, some vendors here like Bro Caps, Binge and CC sell them from time to time. Maybe on taobao you can find whole sets?

Thanks for the information.

Why do I want to sell my SSKs? I think I prefer the feel and aural feedback from the 87U.
I was an SSK advocate; but after using the SSK and 87U for several months, the 87U is
my keyboard of choice. And of the Realforce key switch gram weights, the 55-gram has
my vote.

Unless you need the money, keep them. Most people here have 5+ boards

I can understand owning many keyboards. I've owned about 20 KBs: I've sold some, given others to family/friends; and kept the rest.
This is an addiction that knows no end. Since getting a 55-gram Realforce, I've been in key-switch Nirvana. I came close to this state
with the SSKs, but didn't quite reach it until I picked up an 87U.

I was looking for full replacement sets. I see where EK has yellow and pink, pink!, only. I'll check around geekhack for some key caps.
I'm thinking of getting some replacement caps for my all black 87U. I like all black key caps and don't generally look at the keys; there
are, however, I think of trying a set of key caps with some contrast between caps and characters.

EK has sold out and pfu isn't making any more.

This is unfortunate. There is a market for Topre replacement key caps. It's unfortunate
for those of us with Topre key switches. I'm sure the original PBT key caps will outlast
the guy, me, using them. I've logged a lot of years. Started out with a Leading Edge
Model D computer; replaced machines many times since the early 1983. Running a new
Dell all-in-one, non-touch screen by choice, and recently buried a Sony all-in-one after
five years of hard use.

geekhack: Thanks for the key-cap referral.
This is a really nice thing to do. I appreciate it.

Which switch do you like the best, and which the least? Why? :)
