Wireless 60% keyboard or adapter? Couch PC.
« on: Tue, 04 February 2014, 03:16:06 »
dorkvader post exactly what I was looking for.
http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard/usa-majestouch-minila-air-67-key-soft-linear-action-bluetooth-keyboard.asp

Building a portable couch gaming pc and want a 60% or 40% keyboard to combine with a Naga wireless.

Is there an adapter like bluetooth or something that connects to KBT and can transmit keyboard to usb port with a decent polling or ms rate?

or

Is there a 60% cherryMX keyboard that is wireless?

Haven't seen anything that can do this but there is the Plum morphling but it's bigger than I wanted and I'm also wanting something at least as good as
CM quick fire rapid.

Thank you for your time!

$59

I can vouch it works with some Korean boards, I'm pretty sure it will work with most modern keyboards. But AFAIK doesn't work on Macbooks (the keymapping at least).
Keyboards:
Filco Majestouch 2 - Sakura Edition [MX Blue]
Filco Majestouch 2 - Lotus Edition [MX Brown]
Realforce 23ub - Modded with 55g Domes.
Aripeko TKL

I'm working on making a knock off of these once adafruit re-stocks the BlueFruit EZ-Link, the parts for them shouldn't come to more than $30 USD realistically.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Ouch yeah 59$ is spendy and that thing looks kind of big I was thinking more of a bluetooth dongle like Dual Shock 3 controllers use with MotioninJoy, but PS3 / xbox controllers already have a little battery and probably use less power than a keyboard.

This is the http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2N1Nn I want to make although I keep changing it as more parts are released.

Attaching the latop display to side of mATX, and putting the keyboard on something solid and flat with mouse pad just to right of 60% kb.

mATX will be able to be stood up on a custom protective bag with a solid frame so the screen will be at eye level and not crowd the area.

doesnt the KBT oni and filco minila offer wireless? I'm not sure if either will suit your needs though. (oni is TKL and minila is nonstandard layout (lots of extra keys) )

Anotehr option is to DIY, but the BT controller PCB is $20 and you have to add the cost of a teensy controller.

Yeah I'm just working on some basic drawings to illustrate what I want to do and then I'm going to do an IC thread to see if the interest is there. Ideally I want a small pack that can be stuck onto the rear of the keyboard (think next to the USB port on a Poker) with a small right angled cable to keep everything compact. This pack would also house the connect button and a USB passthrough for connecting to the computer directly while charging the USB.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

If the plan is to plug said  "pack" into the USB port of the keyboard for communication, you'll need to have some way for it to act as a USB host. I'm no expert, but I suspect it'll be hard to do.

I suspect that's part of the reason why most wireless kits are full-on controllers as well.
