My newest. A British military watch still made by the same company as when these were issued in the 1980's.

I bought this watch of some internet guy and it's dead nuts on accurate, but even when I wear it all day it seems to die overnight. If I wind it it lasts the normal length of time unworn. What's up with that you guys?

Could be due for a service? Do you know when (or if) it was serviced last?

The claim is very recently, and it makes sense, because, again, it's really good and really consistent. It did go overnight last night though, so I don't know. ****'s weird man.

Stumbled on this thread and decided to dip my toes into watches. I figured I'd start off easy and picked up three "Indian Refurb" Citizen watches off ebay.
At under $20 a piece, they should be a fun way to get into modding and playing with mechanical movements.

As a shouthpaw, I am really enjoying the 4 o'clock crown on this one:

I'm probably going to swap the green dial into the round housing with the nato strap. The gold dial is a little annoying in that someone decided to put three hash marks between the numbers, not four.... But I already have some parts coming in to turn that movement into a 42mm pilot watch... This is almost as much fun as keyboards.

Have you taken the watch to a jeweler to get it authenticated? Since it appears to be a Rolex Milgauss.

I'd also second looking into getting it serviced.

So today, I spend a little time turning this:

into this:

I used the movement and second hand form the old watch and transplanted them into a new housing and face I got from Fleabay. At some point, I might get a second face to cut a larger window and make the day wheel work again, but that will be a project for another day. The trickiest part was trimming down a new stem for the crown. The old one was about 1/2mm too short and the replacements come in at 20mm, which is about 5mm too long.

Originally, there was a white second hand to match the other two, but gravity made it dissapear. Honestly, I think the red adds a little more contrast so I considder that a happy little accident.

Impressive! I don't think I could do that.

I did go to the post office at midnight though.

Honestly, with a hand puller from amazon, this is not all that hard. Once I realized how to get the stem out (the little magic button) the rest goes together pretty easy. I guess if I was using a more expensive donor, I might have had more second thoughts, but at less than $20, those refurbs from India are a pretty sweet deal. Just takes about a month or so to get here.

This is cool. I'm going to buy one of those. I just got this Shinola thing and it has a lifetime warranty that I understand includes the waterproofing, so this thing's going to be my beater. I need a suitably beater strap for it.

The all-metal version of the 5600 is nice, but why on Earth does it need Bluetooth?
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

IIRC on most Casio watches, BT is for automatic time sync.

Yup, plus you can do all sorts of adjustments/settings through the app on the phone instead of having to fiddle with tiny buttons on the phone.  :)

A few days back, I'd gotten a TH Professional 200M for cheap, due to its condition and missing lume on the bezel at the 12 o'clock mark, I don't care about the missing lume, but I will have the battery changed and polished//buffed to restore it to a semblance of its former glory. It's gonna be my daily driver, one that I'd not be afraid to bang up, lost or stolen....

I'd ordered a Seiko Prospex Alpinist Ginza Limited Edition watch a while back, it arrived earlier today, it's a beaut, I fell in love with the gorgeous dial and just had to have it.

That Withings ScanWatch is interesting, I have a heart issue too, MVP - Mitral Valve Prolapse. Seeing a cardiologist twice year for check-ups.

And yes, that blue croc skin leather strap is something else, it wasn't cheap though. Every since getting it, I'd hardly worn it, just not used to having a piece of artwork on my wrist, plus I can be quite careless at times....

I'm currently wearing a classic Rolex Submariner. It's a timeless piece that goes well with any outfit, whether I'm at work or out for a casual evening. The craftsmanship and attention to detail in Rolex watches are unparalleled. I love how durable and reliable it is, perfect for everyday wear. If you're looking for a great watch, I highly recommend checking out superclonerolex.io . They have a fantastic selection of Rolex-inspired watches that offer the same style and quality without the hefty price tag.

Have a look at the selection Long Island Watch have to offer. Something for everyone there & plenty within your price range.

If coverage is the goal, also have a look at what are called Bund straps. It takes the right watch to pull it off but good coverage and a distinctive look. It's the type of watch strap Robert Redford wore in the movie Three Days of the Condor. There are also "cuff straps" which go even further for covering the wrist.

The first step would be deciding if you want a quartz or mechanical movemenet.

A quartz watch is your regular battery powered watch. It's cheap, reliable and you don't really have to worry about it until it needs a battery change every 3-5 years.

A mechanical (or automatic) watch is powered by gears and springs. It's the same technology that's been used in watches for hundreds of years. It's expensive, sensitive, inaccurate and stops if you don't wear it for 2 days but it's the enthusiast's choice because it's cool.

Once you decide which one of these is for you, I'd recommend just browsing r/Watches on Reddit and see what's out there. You'll have an easier time picking out a watch if you know what kind of movement and style you want.
