SP Grab Bags are almost here
« on: Thu, 20 February 2014, 20:27:20 »

The title says it all. Grab bags will be available next week. 2 pounds of straight goodness are on their way. For those interested here is how we are doing it:

1) We will be sending private invitations to anyone participating in a GB on the PMK site first. You will get exclusive first dibs. Just our way of saying thank you for supporting us!

2) Members of our newsletter, will receive second notice. If you haven't registered, but would like to, you can on the new PMK site at http://pimpmykeyboard.com

3) We will be announcing last on our Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pimp-My-Keyboard/589719521065041. We plan on making lots of exclusive announcements here moving forward. If you want to like the page we would appreciate it!

4) After this we will open the remainder of the inventory for public purchase at http://keyshop.pimpmykeyboard.com

Keep your eyes on inboxes, and thanks again for all your support!

We can just picture someone 'dipping' a scoop into a bin of random key caps to fill up some bags.

Estimate on pricing for these grab bags?

I'm assuming they're going up in price since they're making them more "exclusive" and no longer referring to them as "crap bags". :P

Prices are actually going down to $30 per bag. We're also upping the weight to approx. 2.5 pounds per bag.

Price reduction is good.

Increased weight is not good, as that could increase international shipping.

For many of us not in US, shipping cost kills the idea.

Any ideas on what shipping to Australia might be?

Sounds interesting. I think I'll grab a bag if I still have some spare money when they come out. About how many keys would be in a 2.5 lb bag?

You could always get it shipped to a U.S. person and have them proxy all the interesting keys to you.  I know I can always use random keys people don't want for different projects.

Well most people receive a few desirable novelty caps but it all depends on what your looking for.

These are great if you just want a bunch of random caps.

These are great if you just want a bunch of random caps.

Where random means 80% to 90% black on white and white on black double-shot keycaps with various legends.

Plus a few randmo blue keycaps, some red, some green, some yellow, some orange - I got a dozen or two of each colour.

Plus another dozen or so random colours (brown, aqua, clear).

I was lucky enough to get two Hapsters :)

I tried entering my email address into the subscription area for the PMK newsletter but I'm not getting any sort of email confirmation. When I click the "Subscribe" button I get redirected to the Skull Squadron Base Set group buy.  Is this working as intended? But more importantly, how do I make sure I will be notified for a grab bag?  :)

The postage is probably gonna kill it for me this year, $92 total. Especilaly if customs add another $16 to it as they may do.

I see that its $62.85 postage for one to the UK, but then $7.50 extra postage per bag for the next three. So if someone was group buying four, it would work out $51.15 per bag including postage. ($120 for four bags and  $84.60 postage). Not sure I would risk the customs on 4 bags though.

Good luck whoever gets one, looking forward to the pictures of what I missed :)

Shipping is excessive at $59.55. I hope they can bring that down to the more reasonable $15 on their groupbuy site. But then again, this is a whole lot more keys...
Weight makes it necessary.

I couldn't resist.

Neither could I ... until I saw the shipping cost :(

Quoting myself, but a fast response from SP about the shipping cost has resulted in a cheaper shipping option, so ... order placed!

I'm impressed by how fast SP responded and added different shipping options.

Quick question though. I was only given one choice at checkout, but now I see 5 . How would I change to another option? Thanks.

The shipping options/prices don't make a lot of sense to be honest, priority small boxes are ~$5.25 each no way you can put 2.5lbs of keycaps in one of those.

I'm impressed too. They have a customer service who seems to be in the ball right now. :)

2.5lbs is about 1.1Kg, which is actually fairly heavy to ship across the world.

I seem to recall that shipping cost was about the same as the bag cost last time, and thought that it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Actually the shipping turned out to be about half the cost of a keyboard, but I think the volume of the package is slightly greater.
