Filco Majistouch Camo usb cable shorting out
« on: Mon, 24 February 2014, 16:03:12 »
Hi everyone. My Filco keyboard has a short in the cable, where can i get this keyboard fixed without shipping it back to Japan? I have emailed them already, and they tell me it will cost me almost as much to fix it as get a new one if i ship to them? Thanks.

Is the cable broken? Then buy a replacement filco cable from a cable maker here on GH
is the controller broken? Biphany here makes replacement ones.

I think the cable is broken somewhere. if I move the cable the lights go off and on and I can't type. so I just think i need to replace the whole cable.

Are you plugged into the usb port on the motherboard or into a usb port on the pc case? Some of the aftermarket pc cases have sketchy usb ports that will cause the same problem.

Motherboard. The short seems to be just as the cable comes out of the keyboard

Open it and solder in a replacement USB cable.

Nice idea but I don't have a soldering iron and I'm not any good at it. :)

What country are you in? Pexon in the UK sells filco cables that look awesome and will fix your problems

Don't have to solder.  Filcos have a plug on the PCB for the cable.  Ask any of the custom cable guys on this forum for a cable and specify it's for a Filco.  Pop the case open, remove the old cable, plug in the new one.  Resume part in glorious Filco master-race (I've got three and have swapped cables on two).

T2 would that be in the "making stuff together" part of the forum where I can ask to  get a custom cable made?

Thanks T2! I'll order one.

Pexon is also good too! He has a strain relief for the Filco cables.
