SP raised some concerns about copyrighted material in the nerdom kit. I'll probably have to replace some keys.

Make sure they know, that was not a batman logo, it was the logo we use to summon mkawa when we need to bog the enemy down in details :D :p

Marvel wil not believe you though  :))

hmm...i think marvel wouldn't mind or care if matt use batman logo  :))

An small addition is that the mono legend set may have a backslash "\" in dark gray to go with the all dark gray mods layout.

I got the quote, but I asked for few changes to reduce price.

The blue enter in the mod kits turned out to be too expensive and I prefer to remove it and place it in a kit of its own.

Zoidberg has to go, sorry. I'll replace it with something else. The latest version of the nerdom doesn't have batman/superman, so no problem there. Star wars seems not to be a problem but I guess Melissa is simply not a fan. I'll double check and eventually replace them with something else.

The full touch windowed key is available only with lens on top.

Apart from that everything looks very nice. All prices at 50 tier

Code: [Select]
common txt mod icon mod numpad text pro Icon pro
$39.00 ???? ???? $27.00 $27.00 $27.00

RGB txt RGB icon RGB blank WASD intl 1 intl 2
$17.00 $17.00 $13.00 $9.00 $28.00 $29.00

ISO enter ISO blank Mono Mono intl homing Ergodox
$6.00 $2.00 $17.00 $13.00 $9.00 $27.00

Multimedia Nerdom Apple Full blank Num blank half-ergo
$7.00 $14.00 $16.00 $51.00 $10.00 $9.00

Add blanks Windowed 7u space 625 space Lost+found
$13.00 $12.00 $4.00 $4.00 $17.00

honestly... considering how little the ISO blank cost... I would go with that all the way down are remove the legended one.

Prices looking really good!

Do you think this might be as succesful as DSA Retro? I think it's realistic that the base sets breaks 150 orders :)

if we go with SP system I don't know. Skull Squadron reached 80, so yes, I don't think this would have any problem going at 150. If I had to handle this myself it would probably reach DSA Retro success (if not more)

My guess is $25.

The numpad is also expensive, let me know if I can remove some keys... but I don't think.

oh wait.
some ppl might need it for 1u Enter.
argh! this is a tough choice you are asking matt.
it looks complete as it is now, removing one key will make it seems incomplete...

StylinGreymon made a good call...seeing all the other grey key in numpad are non-text, odd ones out is text numlock.

btw matt, wat's with the Copy Paste Undo Redo keys in Lost+Found?

Num lock with icon.

It is the only key that is duplicated.  Plus the base set has words, not icons, so it would upset fewer people to remove it.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

What if you just add 'enter' and 'num lock' to the regular mods kits (icon & text), and take them out of the numpad kit? Or does that piss of people who *only* want the numpad caps?

no, I can't add them to the base mods because that would imply adding an additional setup cost to the kit.

I don’t follow. Adding 2 extra keys to the base mods, for keys which are likely to be useful for at least half of people (anyone whose keyboard has a numpad), doesn’t seem like a big deal. The price of the numpad kit will be correspondingly reduced.

Each kit has the following costs:
- setup
- plastic
- printing (sublimation)

the setup is the most expensive (human labor time). Adding those 2 keys to the mods means adding a x2 setup cost.

Sometimes even just 1u triggers the additional setup cost (that's why I need to remove 1u from the numpad and I removed the blue enter from the mods)

let's be more specific.

say that I want to do a numpad. say that the default config SP uses for the numpad has 20 keys. If we use exactly those 20 keys the setup cost is just one. If we use 21 keys we pay 1 setup for the default numpad + 1 setup for the additional key, even if that key is one 1u.

hope it is clear now.

Well since some people don't want to get rid of the numlock icon. I vote to lose the = key.

Prices are reasonable, and I really think the tiers may go beyond 50. Do you have a final mockup?

I have the specs for DSA, I will prepare the templates and start working on the final design during the GB.

I'll post final kits config as soon as SP confirms the modifications I asked.

let's be more specific.

say that I want to do a numpad. say that the default config SP uses for the numpad has 20 keys. If we use exactly those 20 keys the setup cost is just one. If we use 21 keys we pay 1 setup for the default numpad + 1 setup for the additional key, even if that key is one 1u.

hope it is clear now.

Interesting. There must be many things like this that noobs such as myself don't understand about what goes into making keys.

The quote for the numpad was wrong. I can put the 1u back to the Numpad. Sorry about the mess.

Everything's ready. We can start the GB.
