Demographics, like age, gender, location, ethnicity, etc. and also maybe stuff about mechs, such as favorite brand, switch, keycap set, what have you. I think the information could be rather interesting if enough people provided information.

They used to have several of those types of polls, but ever since they limited polls to the IC/GB/Classifieds subs they died down.

I distinctly remember voting in several "What's your favorite switch?" polls, as well as favorite keycap material, favorite stabilizers, and other similar polls.

Maybe if we ask the mods nicely they'll re-enable polls? After all, the reason for their being removed hasn't logged onto GH in a good long while...

It would be beneficial to have access to an information-gathering tool such as polls.

Could I make a Google form with a bunch of questions and link to it externally? Technically wouldn't be the forum polls.

That is 100% acceptable. They only removed the native polls because some people would create totally pointless polls that weren't helping the community in any way...

Looking forward to participating in your poll. :thumb:

Just add an "are you lying" option to the poll and filter out anyone who checks "yes".

It's one image file made from editing a bunch of keyboard pixel arts together. Some were modified from other's work, some were made from scratch. There's a bunch in this thread-

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Although it actually sounds like a Google Form is better suited to the task in this case, given the number and scope of questions RESPRiT wants to ask.

Yeah I'd agree with that. This situation requires something a bit more complex than a simple poll. Although it will still be nice to have them back (with some restrictions on certain people, of course *cough MW cough*)

What alphanumeric layout do you use? (QWERTY, DVORAK, COLMAK) QWERTY
Do you use Control in the Caps Lock position? No
Which shift do you use? Mostly Left Shift, sometimes Right

Which side do you prefer the fn key? Right side

Shopping
How do you buy your keyboards? Online mostly, I did get one from Goodwill though
Can you buy keyboards locally where you live?^ Maybe, I've never really looked for them locally...

Done. Nice survey!

Although, I had to guess on some items, like "how many keyboards do you own," "how many keyboards have you ever owned," and "how many keysets do you own." ;D

I'll compile it all together and release the statistics for everything, and also the raw data as well probably.

Ahh, I can see how that could be a concern. The main report will just be cumulative stats, so it wouldn't be possible to know who said what, but the raw data would reveal that. In that case, I'll probably remove names and/or responses that would indicate a person's identity in the raw report.

Again, just release the summaries, it is not safe to share the full data.
