Paris to Rome overnight train
« on: Thu, 13 March 2014, 08:51:01 »
Hey, I'm from the US, which means I don't know anything about rail travel.  I've been searching for information about this route for an anniversary trip to Europe this summer with my wife.

Can anyone help me figure out where to buy tickets, what's the timetable, etc.?  Thanks in advance!
I'm back.

while I know nothing of this train a good place to look would be the Termini Station site, its the biggest station in Rome and connects the over-land trains to there small underground system;

If you're starting out from France, then you will want to look on sncf.com. It will tell you all about the French rail service and you can buy tickets there.

I feel like if your a non euro trying to 'do Europe' is pretty silly and you'd have more fun spending like 3 weeks in 2-3 places...

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

If you are traveling around EU I would suggest you check http://www.interrail.eu/
It is fairly cheap but you might want to check if you can use it as US citizen.
This sucks more than anything that has ever sucked before.

The French website to book train tickets is http://www.voyages-sncf.com/
I think reservations only open 3 months in advance. I'm not sure you can use this site from the US though.
