Author Topic: [FS] Topre Realforce 87UW (45g/55g) TRADED (Read 10541 times)

The 87U was used as a 55g donor board and currently has only 4 x 55g domes left, buyer can decide where to put them. The rest of the board is 45g and comes in original box, no other accessories. TRADED

If someone wants it lubed and dental band modded I could do that for an additional fee.

In the way of explanation it seems like many people are under the impression when swapping topre domes there is some barbaric 'cutting' that takes place that damages things, this is simply not the case in this situation. For those unfamiliar you can see in the photo below the different color domes for 45 vs 55g, the different sheets (the main alpha area is made up of 2 big sheets of domes, then there are 4 sets, 3 sets, 2 sets, singles, a couple domes have cutouts for led's etc. I might have had to cut one 3 set into a smaller set to fit a specific area but that was it and it was done very carefully along the existing line between two domes.

A ready-modded black and silenced 55g HHKB is pretty much perfect. That is all. GLWS, if some of this stuff sticks around I may have to reopen my sale thread and reload on slush-funds...

It did at first but the back screws were not tight. Once I tightened them it is only noticeable if you try and make it move.

Also updated OP a little bit. The 87UW is put back together and has a mix of 45g/55g it is explained in the OP.

Even thinking about getting another one--I'm obsessed about having spares of the KBs I really like.
I just can't get a good feel from Cherry switches in the CM, Filco, and similar KBs; but the 87U always
feels good to me. And so goes the saga of another keyboard guy. Again, good luck with the sale SR.

If the XT were a TKL, I might give it a go; but if it feels like the 80- to 105-gram MX Green switch,
it's not the switch for me. I tried a MX Green keyboard and the switches felt sluggish to me. If
gray switches are 80-grams from actuation force through bottoming out, MX Gray switches might
be a switch for me to consider in a TKL.

I'm interested in trying a keyboard with MX Clear switches. I was going to mod a CMQFR with them, but it's a bit much desoldering/soldering for me to take on.

Spam, if you haven't sold your HHKB, wouldn't it make sense to reverse what you have done i.e. restoring the HHKB back to 45g and the Realforce back to 55g and then selling them this way. I am not sure if people like the way the Realforce is set up now.

Yep, realforce prices have bottomed out.

I paid $260 for this white 87U when I bought it, but at the time I was helping out a bro, international shipping and all, plus at the time EK had no stock and no ETA and prices were higher at EK then as well
