i'll be patient and save my money for (1) split hhkb pro 2 (2) unicomp to manufacture m15 with lighter buckling springs (3) most likely outcome - someone to produce my wanted keyboard. in the meanwhile i can handle standard layout just fine.

If I could get my house sold, I might lay out for one of these at some point.  Then again, at around $400 an auction, that might just be stupid, anyway.

Too bad about the non-functioning scroll lock indicator and missing ancilllary parts.  Maybe a call to Unicomp can fix these things?
It'll be interesting to see what it goes for.

Cheers,

I asked him if it can be lowered ... he'll get back to me ...

That's funny — shipping to me is $8 bucks. Maybe you should have someone here buy it and ship it to you for $25-$40.

Ah he's another contender! That reminds me of that other guy on wheel83's hitlist, the one with the three M15s. Surely there is some rule against people with three M15s :D

That's just hoarding.  There was someone in the Keyboard Pics thread that had something like 4-6 of them.  It was nuts.  They need to give some to charity, like the United Italian Typists Fund.

wheel83 -- I've had them since they were new, and they're wearing out. I really do hope you get your hands on one.

webwit -- I have an older Fujitsu clicky keyboard, without the Windows keys. It's a nice light touch, but not as precise as an IBM M. As for a trade... try to touch my M15 and you'll draw back a bloody stump.

What a shame that $590 is going to such a bad typist.

Bad typist probably means less wear and tear on the keyboard :) That's what I'm hoping for, anyway. I am anxious to see how it compares to my daily-driver pair.

Soon I'll be willing to risk sending one off for a refurbishment...

Congrats.

The last one was missing two rubber feet, so the logo isn't the only difference.

I must admit, this one tempted me -- after all, it was a chance to have one of each logo, and I could have turned the imperfect one around. But I've spent the last two months trying to undo muscle and tendon injuries -- the right keyboard isn't everything -- and refining my keyboard collection seemed like kicking myself in the balls. I'm still not sure I'll ever be back to typing full-time.

Actually, I'd much rather kick myself in the balls than be unable to type. Speech recognition is like dictating to a seven-year-old who's had too much Cap'n Crunch.

Anyway, nice score, happy to see it go to someone here.

And BTW, this group is much cooler than the speech recognition & microphone geeks I've found out there.

I have an Evoluent wireless on order for work (they were kind of pushing me to order something, I think to prove they're trying to do something about my condition). From my test drive it feels awfully big. I learned that I have quite large hands, and it just fits me, but it "drives" big, like you'd need to turn down the speed and use a lot of desk space to be precise, the mouse equivalent of a 1970s heavy duty truck gearshift.

The mouse I've been using since the pain got bad is the Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000. It's the only retail mouse I found that doesn't pronate your hand much. (I was actually surprised and disappointed that there weren't more alternatives; have ergonomists just given up on the whole pronation thing?) Last week I went back to my old office where I'd dumped my previous Microsoft wireless mouse, which I used to love, and it felt SO uncomfortable -- the MS Natural 6000 has corrupted my sense of normal.

Anyway, if the Evoluent doesn't work for you, think about trying the MS Natural 6000. Like a good automotive gearshift knob, it feels more comfortable than it looks.
